Flatscreen TV Wall Mount Recall: Televisions May Fall Off Wall

About 131,000 flat screen television wall mounts made by Milestone AV Technologies have been recalled because they could allow the televisions to fall off the wall, posing a risk of injury for consumers. One of the models of the recalled television mounts was sold through Costco.

The HDTV wall mount recall was announced on August 25 by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). According to the CPSC, the elbow joint components on the wall mount’s arm are defective and do not fit together. This could allow the television to tilt and potentially fall onto consumers. There have been no injuries reported with the defective wall mounts.

The recall affects the Simplicity model SLF2 and the Sanus Vision Mount model LF228-B1 manufactured by Milestone AV Technologies LLC, of Savage, Minnesota. The mounts are sold for use with flat screen televisions and the model number is located on the UL sticker on the wall plate.

The Simplicity model was sold exclusively through Costco from June 2009 through July 2010 for about $200. The Sanus Vision Mount model was sold nationwide from June 2009 through July 2010 for about $450 through independent television mount dealers.

The CPSC recommends that consumers who own the affected models immediately inspect the wall mount to see if the elbow joint fits together correctly and contact Milestone AV Technologies for a free replacement part. contact the better business bureau, and your local tv station probably has an consumer complaint line where the media will help you get a resolution to this problem, and I would contact an attorney that does not charge for conseltation and get a path to follow from the attorney. Best of luck to you on this matter! Tricia!
