I cant believe that all of these cases are just like mine. I had a partial hysterectomy, a repair done to my rectum (I call it the "pocket") and the mesh sling put in sept 2004. At my 6 week checkup, I too had a piece of mesh hanging out of my vagina and a hole that never would heal up. I continued to have problems with alot of vaginal infections and my sex life went downhill to nothing now because of the pain and always told not to have sex because it would make the mesh start to come out.... In 2008 I had the rest of the hysterectomy done and repair with the mesh. The mesh started to come out again and cause infections where I had another surgery Sept 2009. Here it is 4 months later and I am having problems with leaking urine and I am stuck wearing pads. My NEW gyn is having to send me away to another city that is 300 miles away just to have the fistula repaired, in April or May. I have gained 80 pounds since then and have been put on 2 antidepressants, calcium w/ vit d, acid reflux med and estrogen (Cinestin). The original doctor that put this in me, has closed shop and moved to Hawaii. I am so tired of all the back pain, leg pain and body aches. I am 38 years old and I feel that my life has been taken from me. Alot of ibeprophen which only helps a little. I cant sleep well at night.

Hi I had surgery on 01/21/10 I had a cystocele, rectocele, and a bladder sling for stress incontinence,i am very, very disappointed because the incontinence is worse! I am post-op 5 weeks and I have not been "dry" since before the surgery,it seems that i "leak" at all times it almost feels like I am on my period and am having a flow.
I have seen my gyn (he performed the surgery) has done many... I tell him whats going on and he tells me to do kegal excercises,(what was the point of the surgery???)
I saw my Dr. again 1 week ago and he gave me medication to stop the "urge" I am so upset, he suggested dilating my cervix to loosen or tighten the sling.I am terrified because I have very low pain tolerance and this would be done in his office...has anyone ever had this done?

Has anyone had the Monarc TOT sling and had problems. I had this done in 2005 and have had constant pain in the groin ever since. The pain is so intense, have had to live on pain medications to this day and still doesn't completely control the pain. If I would have known the risk I would never have had this surgery and would have lived with stress incontence quite well. This has completely destroyed my quality of life. I was only 47 when I had the surgery, before I was very active, now I can't hardly move without pain nearing a level 10.

I had a bladder sling put in Dec 9, 2009. The first 2 weeks I was even suggesting to my mother she should have it done. Much to my horror within the next 24 hrs my nightmare would begin. I woke up in pain, bleeding (which I had very little when the sling was put in) and what appeared to be twine hanging from my vagina. Dr visit, blah, blah. only to continue to get worse daily. I would call and beg to be seen only to have them call in a prescription for Motrin everytime. Pain meds was no what I wanted. What I wanted was to see the dr and tell him something was horribly wrong. At my 8 wk check up (suffering all the way to that date) I was told my vaginal incision was rigid (DUH) did they not think I could feel that? That the mesh had eroided thru my vag. wall and it had to come out. Bad thing, 8 weeks to get on the schedule because so many ahead of me waiting on the same procedure. As each day passes the pelvic pain (feels like constant horrible cramps, although I have no uterus) and almost unbearable vaginal pain. EACH DAY WHO KNOWS HOW MANY WOMEN ARE HAVING THIS DONE TO THEM. How do we as women stick together and stop this procedure. I dont care what kind of sling is used. 50% of women are having problems according to what I can find on the net. WHO IS TO STOP THIS? THE FDA HAD A WARNING. One I read too late. HOW DO WE GET THE FDA TO STOP THIS AND STOP IT NOW before more women go through this same thing and no hope in site.

I had my first bladder sling done in 2006, that failed after 4 weeks. I underwent cystocele/ rectocele/ vaginal vault suspension and TOT bladder sling surgery in June 2008. I, like most others, have had constant urinary tract/bladder infections. I have been on antibiotics for six months now. On 1\25\10 I had surgery to remove the grafting material at the top of the vagina due to extreme and constant pain. My doctor did a colposcopy (looked in the bladder) at the time and found that the tape has eroded into the bladder. I face another surgery on 2\23\10. My urologist says he has to make an abdominal incision and slice open the bladder to get to the TOT and remove it. Sounds like the removal is going to worse than the insertion.

Please check out medicalmesh@yahoogroups.com
Also truthinmedicine.us.com
There are hundreds, probably thousands of women just like you. Amazing that our "trusted" FDA allows this c..p on the market and our "trusted" doctors put it in and then haven't a clue what to do for the severe complications that ruin our lives.

3 years ago, I had a Mentor AVIS Bladder work done...It has been a nightmare....I have had infection after infection, parts of the tape coming through my vaginal wall, vaginal erosion, bleeding, foul discharge, lower back pain that virtually shuts my life down at times, and my sex life is gone. I bleed very bad, and sex is painful, and I hurt very bad afterwards.
1 year ago, I had surgery to remove it, but unfortunatly the Doctors was not able to get all of it out. Now, I have more of the mesh protruding through, and another infection, back pain, and all of the above things I mentioned before.
I cannot find any suits dealing with this type of Vaginal Tape, and I know that I'm not the only Woman dealing with this problem with the AVIS tape.
