We bought a new stove a lil over a yr ago.. I’ve had so much trouble with this stove .. The eyes on low will burn your foods.. The oven will come on and it beeps every few minutes. It’s 12:58 pm and I fear going to bed . It kept beeping and I went and manually cut the oven off..the oven was on 500° . It was hot to the touch.. I’m 76 , I need to go to bed …BUT I’M SCARED TO !

My electric stove ffef3016vsa,vf93110185 is making popping noise from electrical serg in stove causing breaker to trip in breaker box. WILL NEVER BY ANY PRODUCTS MADE BY FRIGIDAIRE OR SISTER COMPANIES. Very unsafe and can start a fire in house. Stay away from their products. Always have had problems with this stove since we purchased it. Oven glass has just exploded twice with the stove off. Very dangerous products.

Have the Kenmore elite an I had been boiling water for spaghetti on the rapid boil burner which it caused the glass top to explode which i was lucky I got a small cut on my wrist thank god that was it .

I smelled something cooking and my husband said it wasn’t him. We went into the kitchen and heard a beeping sound. I went to the stove and one switch was flashing lo/hi. I picked up frying pans I had on the stove and burned my hand. We had to shut the stove off at the power box to get it to stop. This was a serious situation. We had just returned from a 2 week trip and if it had turned on while we were gone we may not have had a home to return to. Sears should be held responsible for such a dangerous product. They refused to help us. Said model #FGE serial #NF had no recalls.

On Dec 5th 2006 I purchased a 2006 professional series range of which I am unable to locate the model number and serial number. However a dangerous thing happened to me…The back burner turned on ON ITS OWN….OMG I HAD THE SCARE OF MY LIFE …Thankfully there was nothing on the stove!!! But the burner would NOT turn off ….after at least 30 minutes that I kept trying to turn it off it finally turned off… I went to switch the fuse to off …scan someone please call me and guide me on what to do??

I purchased a Frigidaire Electric smooth top range January 2016 model FGEF3058RFA and Serial #VF54722081. Within one year, the power cord connections melted and allowed the wires to make contact which caught on fire and blew out the breaker. Four years later, the quick boil knob caught on fire and blew the entire house power out. I am afraid to use this stove any longer. The serial number is within the recall but the model is not. Frigidaire was unresponsive and I do not find any warnings on their website. Buyer beware.

large heating element on my plef398cc frigidaire wont turn off says he but burner stays bright red even when unplugged. I had to open the top were the switches are and unplug the switch from the circuit board in order for the burner to cool down.

I have been with out a stove for 5 days now. It is a Frigidaire #PLEF398ACA serial # VF22426026 no one seems to know why my stove is giving code numbers, till I find this recall. The problem that I have is, the stove was bought in Puerto Rico. I Can not get anybody to respond to me about this recall. The nobs are giving me the F5 and F7 codes, blinking and making beeps sounds. I call Electrolux in Georgia they said they do not service PR. They gave me a phone # 787 707 5200, this service is connected to Mexico and they only do a service to be charged. I called another # 787 706 5300 but no one answer. Is there anyone out there to help me with my stove?

Today while cooking dinner, I turned the burner down to 3 so it could simmer, shortly after I heard the juices boiling away, Thought perhaps I turned it up and not down but no it was set on 3. So I turned it off and back on again to 3, Again I heard the juices boiling rapidly. This time I turned the burner off but it stayed on. I turned the dial the opposite way 360 degrees til I got to off again. This time the burner turned off but after the stove top had cooled off I noticed the hot surface light was still on so I turned off the breaker. I have Kenmore Model #790.96011407 Serial number VF 72421831. After reading everyone’s comments, not sure i want to even try to repair, probably shopping for a new stove tomorrow.

I have been so frustrated with my burners, the burners get hotter and hotter and when on sim it’s like a cauldron. They the 240 plug was shorting out because the plastic melted and every time I open and shut the oven it hit again the metal back plate and shorted out. 240 volts!!!! That junction box was replaced and again, the red wire completely melted through the plastic and hit the back plate. I googled and see these massive recalls. I was never notified and purchased at Home Depot, this is ridiculous. Has anyone gone through the recall process and what are they offering.

December 2018 I thought I could almost swear turn the stove off left to go shopping come back the house was full of smoke cuz it stove did not turn off then getting ready to move back in the house on January 25th 2019 the stove was on fire. I have an Electrolux model EW30ES65GW slide-in double oven. Both large burners have quit working by NEVER turning off. Only way to stop them from being on high is to un-plug the oven. Very dangerous.

I have a Frigidaire Gallery flat glass top stove with controls on the front. It is model FGES3065KFC serial NFO4416165 built in Canada in February 2010. The initial symptom revealed in November 2018. The stove top turned on random burners when the stove was turned off with the control indicators irrelevant to the burners themselves. It was noticed when a pan sitting on the stove overheated. Cycled the circuit breaker to no avail. Left the breaker off overnight and it appeared to re-boot until Sunday 25 February, 2019 when it began then all four cooking burners stopped working. The warmer burner works fine as does the oven and fan.

I have a Gallery model #FGES3065KFC it was manufactured in June of 2010. I have the same problem as the units within the recall dates, where a burner spontaneously came on and will not shut off. Was the recall date range expanded to include my model?

I have a smooth top frigidaire serial VF62924138 model FEF366EMD. Recently it has been throwing an F10 code with the oven on, but in the past there has been a few instances the burner didnt correspond to the setting it was on. Such as the knob is to simmer yet the burner is acting like its on high. Is this part of the recall and if so when would it be fixed? Is there a reason i need to contact a lawyer according to this page?

I did not realize until a couple of weeks ago there was issues with the stovetops coming on by themselves. Saturday night at 12:30 a.m. my husband and I awakened to a house full of thick white smoke. My 83 yr old mother also lives with us. After discovering there was no open flame, we began to try to clear the smoke out of the house. That’s when we realized a skillet that had been left sitting on top of the stove (a Frigidaire Gallery series smooth top) was smoking. All the knobs were off. My husband turned the breaker to the stove off. The burner had come on by itself. If we had not woke up, we would have died of suffocation. I can remember not wanting to get up but he kept hollering at me that something was wrong. I contacted Frigidaire first thing the following Monday morning. Customer service advised that my stove was not on a current recall list and was out of warranty. They were happy to refer me to an authorized repair man. I asked for a supervisor. I got Tiffany in the corporate office. I again explained my situation and how serious it was and could have been. She advised that she was authorized to offer me 50% off the repair bill. I literally laughed. I asked her if it had happened to her would that be sufficient. She again stated that my stove was not under warranty and not on the recall list and her offer was good for 30 days. I could not believe when I googled it there were so many instances of this happened. I also cannot believe that there have not been worse outcomes. The way Frigidaire is handling this is atrocious. What happened to good customer service, making a situation right?

I came home to my left burner on! I’ve been out of town and so greatful I was home. I unplugged the Frigidaire stove. I called the number on the sticker in the bottom drawer. They told me my serial number was not on the recall list and there was nothing they could do for me! This is absolutely wrong! I have never had a stove malfunction like this in my entire life and I’m a senior citizen. They told me the engineers are aware of all the stoves that need to be recalled. I question that! Especially because the engineers can’t be in everyone’s home when this happens!!! I am in shock they will not be responsible for their own product!

I have a stove that is on the recall list, yesterday the eye came on by itself and melted a tea kettle on the eye. We were lucky we were at home as there would have been a fire. The top of one eye is really burnt with the tea pot . Please tell me what I need to do to get the top replaced and repair the switch. We are elderly people, so we need all the help we can get. we had a house built in 2003 and bought all frigidaire appliances including washer and dryer and ALL of them have malfunctioned over the last 1 years. We have had to replace everything except the washer. Yes, 14 years is a long time but not everything lasted that long and it is not a long life for any appliance. I was cooking a Valentine’s Day Dinner for my husband and the top element in the oven came on and burnt our dinner. Had to unplug the stove to turn it off and now when I plug it in the element comes on. Have to go buy a new stove tomorrow and it definitely will NOT be Fridgidaire.

Our Kenmore plus stove 95775891 model, new in 2000 had an oven overheat and burn the food while baking. It also had the oven locked. My wife turned off the breaker. I’m a technician so I looked at the stove and found a tiny relay with the contacts stuck in energized position. It was the relay that controls the broiler coil. In this stove the broiler coil is used some even while baking. I replaced both relays for the oven. That was about six years ago and it has been working fine but we are afraid to use the oven delay start time when we are not home. About the relays, they are very small and soldered in and difficult to replace. The dual burner has never worked correctly. When we turn on the single both the single and dual heat elements come on. My fault! I didn’t call for service under warranty. Maybe I can fix that too.

We have the Kenmore Elite ceramic glass drop in Electric Range Model No. 790.46612500. We paid $1,800 for this stove at Sear. My wife was fixing dinner, and turned off the left front burner. The red glow on the burner would disappear and reappear within minutes even though the burner was turned off. We waited about 15 minutes hoping the burner would stay off so she could continue to cook, but it continued and the heat was very hot coming from the burner. I had to go to the fuse box and cut the unit off because the burner would not go off. This is a definite fire hazard. There are young grandchildren in the house and we are very concern that this is a hazard for them also. Sears needs to take the responsibility of either fixing or replacing this stove. From what I read, the repairs they have made are not working. We noticed that Sears has had many complaints about the same problem. We need to have something done right away. We appreciate your assistance.

this is the second fridigaire smooth top i have had. The previous model was going on high without being turned on. After changing the knob controls a few times the store finally replaced my and I received a new one. Guess what. After a few months, it starts all over again. I happen to be in the kitchen and moved a pot over to the side. The pot was on the left front element. I look over and I see it red hot. I look at the controls and its on off. Totally red hot and burning my pot on it. I have called the repair man. So glad I was home when this happened. So unpredictable .

We inherited a Frigidaire Gallery smooth top oven/range when we purchased our home. (Model #GLEF378AQB, Serial #VF13013618, purchased by original owner in 2001.) Two days ago, I turned the oven on to 325 degrees to warm leftovers in Pyrex glass pans. 30-45 minutes later I heard popping and hissing noises. Checked and food was a charred mess in bottom of pans) and there was black smoke in the oven. Turned off oven. Opened windows and turned on fans as smoke alarm was going off. Was able to get smoking pans out of oven without getting burned. Realized that oven had not gone off!! Heating elements in bottom of oven were still burning bright red even after several minutes! Oven must have never stopped heating up when it reached 325 degrees! Did not believe I could safely pull oven out away from wall by myself to unplug it. Luckily thought to run down to the basement to turn off the breaker! I, too, called Electrulux and Frigidaire and spoke to six people in various departments from customer care to repair to recall and was told my model and serial number are not on the recall list. They definitely should be! After reading the many “repairs” in previous posts that did NOT fix the problems, I will replace all of the Frigidaire appliances in my kitchen and will never buy a Frigidaire or Electrolux appliance. My next call will be to the Consumer Protection agencies and maybe even to my local media. The fire danger is real!

This is my 2nd almost burn my house down due to burner failure on my elite smooth top. The right control board went out ($300). Now, the left or middle board has failed causing the burner to stay on. NOT just on, but on HIGH. I filed a complaint, but my model is still not on the list, so they basically told me to pound sand. Going through some of the post, I noted several that have This same issue. This problem is going to kill an entire family and I would like to see a response!

I purchased a frigidaire pro smooth surface electric cooktop model #FPEC3085KS on 3/10/2014. I don’t use it that often but when I did it worked fine until 11/27/2016 when I woke up at 2am with my house full of smoke. I had used an electric food steamer to prepare dinner that night which I normally do on top of the stove. The back right burner just turned itself on in the middle of the night and caused the steamer to melt and catch fire. No matter what I did I could not turn that burner off and had to cut the breaker. It’s been 9 days since I have been able to cook or do laundry as the dryer is on that breaker as well. Frigidaire tells me they are not responsible as the warranty is up and this model is not on recall. Not only am I out $300 for the food steamer but also the cost of repair. Not sure if I even want this in my house as it’s a hazard and in my opinion very unsafe. I will NEVER give frigidaire another penny of my money and I would recommend you do the same. You spend over $1000 on something you would think they would want to make it right but that’s not the case. Good luck to anyone with a frigidaire product and just never leave anything on your stove it just might turn itself on at 2am like it did to me. I also took video of this but they didn’t care. Ron

Last night, nobody at home couldn’t turn off the left front burner from the kenmore electric/glass top range 790.9611340A. It constantly emitted with the highest heat for long time, until I got home, and took off the switch wire. But this model is not in the recall list. It’s definitely a fire hazard.

Have kenmore elite electric/glass top range. No. 790.97109012; 4 years old. Was using oven with timer set and thought timer was going off. Came to get item out of over and there was an err on the message screen(clock). The alarm and oven would not shut off so I had to turn the power to my range off at the breaker box. There was a strong electrical burnt smell. The service person is supposed to be out today. As of now I don’t think my range will be useable and next week is Thanksgiving. I am doing dinner this year. I had awarranty check on all of my covered appliances about a month ago. They all passed inspection. So upset!!! message on the mess

I have the newer model stove with the same problem as stated above. I call sears and told the that this is a fire hazard. I know it is a bad engineering design that led to this recalled. My burnt many pots on the stove, most of which she has to throw in the cabbage When she put the 2 front burner on Low, it automatically goes to HIGH, Thanks for smoke detectors. Wow, Kenmor smooth top stove just went crazy. Cooking dinner on front burner, it was set on 3, and burnt the food. Stove beeped and showed E2 F2, pushed clear it was fine, pressed bake and walked outside to get rubs off grill. Came back to kitchen, had a strange metal smell, fire alarm went off by back door. Oven was smoking out vent, turned off stove. Only clock was on. Now smoking out broiler vent , pulled stove away from wall, unplugged stove. All smoke alarms in house going off, opened Windows and went outside. Removed stove outside, oven door is locked. This thing almost burnt my house down. It would have if I was not watching it.

I just got off the telephone with fridgedare about our recalled electric oven. They came out in 2012 and replaced all the switches and it worked fine then 3 weeks ago front right burner would not shut off and then we heard arcing under cooktop and I ran and shut off breaker. Contacted Fridgedare and they sent the recalled switches again. They also had a repairman install them last week. He could not test it to see if that was fixed because the arcing we heard was the right front element had gotten so hot that it fried the wires at the connector. Fridgedare would not cover the element so I spent $183.00 and installed a new one. Plugged the stove back in and the burner came on as before even though the new switch was in the off position. Now they are sending me the third set of recall parts and a repairman is coming a week from now to install them again. It has been a month now trying to get this stove fixed.

In March of 2011 I received a recall notice regarding Frigidaire Smoothtop Slide-In Ranges heating elements turning on unexpectedly. The range was purchased in 3/08. I called them on 3/8/11 and was send four rubber disks that I put behind the knobs. In approximately 2014, my left rear burner went on automatically. Because I had already inserted the rubber disks sent in the repair kit in 2011, I assumed one of my grandchildren had turned it on and never gave it much thought, although they were 7 yrs. at that time, well beyond the age of turning burners on.. On April 8, 2016, the right front burner went on automatically. I called Electrolux recall department and another kit was sent to my house and Tri City Appliance repair came and installed it. Minor damage ($47.00) occurred to an air chamber inhaler I use for my asthma. I had been cleaning the counter next to the stove. The phone rang and put the dishtowel and inhaler down on the stove and answered the phone. In a few minutes my kitchen was filled with smoke. I threw the dishtowel into the sink and took notice that all the knobs were in the off position.. My concern is not the minor damage, but the fact that I am very worried that this could happen while I’m not home and my house could burn down. I found the recall department to be a little cavalier about the whole thing. I think they are going to reimbursement me the $47.00. I think they should be refunding the purchase price so that I and others can get new stoves. Just how long can the recall be in effect; from the time you buy the stove until you get rid of it. When I spoke with the recall department, the rep asked why I didn’t report the incident in 2014. I didn’t report it because I thought the initial recall took care of it. How long do we now have to worry about defective stoves. Now, when I go to work, I shut off the circuit to the stove. I don’t trust it one bit. Electrolux needs to take responsibility for this potentially very dangerous situation.

We just bought our house, today while cooking soup Both the front and back burners went nuts. Display would say exactly the opposite of what it was turned to and they wouldn’t turn off. After reviewing several things online we turned the breaker off, waited a few minutes then turned back on. The display says ER, and it won’t stop beeping. I called manufacture and they say it’s not on the recall list, and they have no trouble shooting issues?

I have a Frigidaire smooth top range model #FFEF3048LSJ , Today my wife was cooking and she heard a popping and cracking noise. She said the back left stove top ile was on and she was preheating the oven to 350 to bake macaroni and cheese. She said out of no where the stove started flickering and smoking, smoking out our whole kitchen. Then after that the oven completely stops working before we can get to it to turn it off or see what’s going on. I don’t know what’s going on with these products but if they are faulty then Fridgidare need to own up and fix the issues because I could of lost my house.

I have a frigidaire flat top range for few years. Recently, I was cooking using left front burner and set it on low , within few seconds the food start burning and smoking. Immediately, I put the food in the kitchen sink under cold water and tried to turn the burner to off position but it wouldn’t go of at all, so I had to shut the electricity to the the stove from the circuit breaker and when I reset the circuit breaker to on the burner came on high inspite the switch on off position, so I had to shut the circuit breaker off again. My question is , why frigidaire still in business if they keep making applainces fire hazard and unsafe to use. Also, where is the consumer protection agency?

Kevin, thanks for your post. I just called Electrolux. They were very friendly and got all the info need. Parts will be here in less than a week, and they are arranging for the closest repair shop to come install the components. Excellent customer service on Electrolux’ part!

since you have reported the issue to the product engineer, I would like a public response on this site, please. This issue is nothing new, it has and continues to be reported again and again and again by powerless consumers who are thrown an “I know how you feel” crumb, and then directed to get it fixed at their OWN expense.with a one year warranty that will not guaranty it won’t happen again. CONSUMERS DO NOT CAUSE LINERS TO BOW–this is a manufacturer’s defect!! I do not appreciate Sears trying to distance themselves from the problem by saying it was made by another company, e.g.” Frigidaire made for Kenmore”–the buck stops with Sears, they sell it, they own it. This is a manufacturer’s defect and a safety issue. If automobiles are recalled in their thousands for “possible” future issues, this is realistic one. (Google the lady whose hot casserole fell or the turkey that dropped.)

I have a Frigidaire smooth top which is not listed as a recalled model. The front left burner has gone to high when trying to turn it down and has even stayed on after turning it off. Almost caught my kitchen on fire once. Scarey feeling. All of the burners turn on and off when cooking and take a long time to get up to temp. Today then oven and stove wouldnt come on at all for a while, then sporadically started working. My stove is haunted. They obviously know this is a problem (and hazard) with these stoves, but refuse to fix it. Not sure what to do.

I have a Frigidaire cooktop model # PL36DD50EC serial # ZF94704660. The left middle burner (part of the front left burner, depending how it is turned on) suddenly came on HIGH last night and would not turn off. We reset the breaker and it came back on once power was restored. Thankful there was nothing on the burner when it came on. Frigidaire does not show my cooktop on the recall list even though it is the exact same issues as those recalled. I do not understand how I am expected to pay for repairs for what seems an obvious defect in the cooktop.

Purchased home in 2013 with Fridgidaire professional series stove. Model CPLEF. Elements spontaneously turn on high and are not able to be shut off continuously. Serious fire hazard. I have a model 79095314300, serial # VF13226788. During a bake cycle, the stove decided to switch over to broil. The stove burned my food, and smoke poured out of the broiler vent, amid smoke detectors going off. Most importantly, even though I pressed the off button, and stove panel showed that it was off, we had to turn off the breaker to get the stove to turn off. It just kept getting hotter and hotter. Needless to say, I filed a report with the CPSC and called Sears and spoke with a woman in Customer Solutions. She also took a report. Today a repairman from Sears was supposed to come look at my stove – that didn’t happen. By the way – they were going to charge me. Anyway, my stove was not under recall, but based on reading other people’s experiences, I am sure it should be. Hope this information helps others.

I have model number 790.9611940 but my serial number starts with VF745….. When I turn the front element down, it will return to high temperature within a few seconds. So far, to my knowledge it has not turned itself on. How to I report this problem to the consumer protection agency for them to look into recalling these ranges?

I had posted a problem with our 2009 LG electric smooth top stove earlier. The problem occurred with the large burner suddenly turned onto high by itself and would not shut off. We had to disconnect the power from the stove. Upon investigating on line, I round an article from Consumer Reports News, dated Nov. 08,2012 that our model number LRE30757 was recalled. We were never notified and we purchased from Best Buy in 2009.

I have a LG smooth top range LRE30757. One of the large burners went from cooking in low to spontaneously turn to high and would not shut off. Had to disconnect the power to the stove. We purchased this stove new in 2009. I checked the recall list and it stated it was not on the recall.

I have a frigidaire NF71722721 which is not on the recall list but it should be. I have had runaway oven temperatures twice and woke up last night with the back burner of the stovetop that self started. I had to trip the breaker to turn it off. The electronics are a disaster on these stoves and no one seems willing to take any responsibility for them.

Just checked on the website listed above www.smoothtoprangerecall.com…said my range is not on recall…called Frigidaire….they also said not on recall…called Consumer Product Safety Commission they finally gave me right number to call because the ranges listed are all on list..CALL 888-360-8556..(Electrolux #) they will set up free repair.

My stove lacks all the time I use it for baking or grilling. I have to wait around 30′ to cool off then turn on again, lacks again and on and off. I spent around 5 hours to bake a chicken. What can I do?
