Arctic Cat Prowler Recall Issued Due to Fire Hazard March 19, 2014 Russell Maas Add Your CommentsRoughly 2,300 Arctic Cat off-highway vehicles have been recalled, due to the risk of fuel leaks that may lead to fires or burn injuries for riders. ย The Arctic Cat Prowler recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on March 18, following the discovery that the vehicles’ fuel fitting may not be adequately secured at the throttle body, potentially allowing fuel to leak. To date, no injuries or incidents have been reported. The recall includes 2014 Arctic Cat Prowler HDX Recreational Off-Highway vehicles equipped with two seats and a rear cargo rack. The vehicles were sold in green, red, vibrant red metallic, or emerald green metallic. The words โArctic Catโ are printed on each side of the hood, โ500โ is printed on each side of the front fenders, and โHDXโ is printed on the rear cargo box.Do You Know about…Spinal Cord Stimulator lawsuitsSpinal cord stimulator lawsuits are being investigated for individuals who suffered unnecessary shocks, burns or other problems, often resulting in the need for additional surgery to remove the SCS.Learn MoreSEE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR COMPENSATIONDo You Know AboutโฆSpinal Cord Stimulator lawsuitsSpinal cord stimulator lawsuits are being investigated for individuals who suffered unnecessary shocks, burns or other problems, often resulting in the need for additional surgery to remove the SCS.Learn MoreSEE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR COMPENSATIONThe vehicles were manufactured in the United States by Arctic Cat of Plymouth, Minnesota and were distributed for sale to Arctic Cat dealers nationwide from August 2013 through January 2014 for between $11,000 and $12,400.Typically, off road vehicles are used for more strenuous activities and driven on rigorous terrains causing more impact on the internal components. In cases were fuel components may be faulty there could be an increased risk of fire.Another fuel leak risk led to a similar recall by Kawasaki last month. In February, Kawasaki Motors Corp. recalled nearly 10,000 off-road motorcycles due to a risk that fuel might leak from between the fuel tank and the fuel tap, posing a serious risk of fires. Kawasaki warned that the fuel tanks may leak in certain situations during use. There were no reports of fires or injuries related to the problem. The CPSC recommends that customers stop using the vehicles affected by the Arctic Cat Prowler recall and contact an Arctic Cat dealer to schedule a free repair. Arctic Cat has begun contacting all known and registered owners of the recalled vehicles by phone or mail. Consumers with questions can contact Arctic Cat by calling (800) 279-6851 or by visiting the company’s website at www.arcticcat.com.
