Asbestos Exposure Lawsuit Filed Against Harrah’s in Las Vegas

A former worker who claims that he and his three-year old son have suffered injuries due to exposure to asbestos has filed a lawsuit against Harrah’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The asbestos exposure lawsuit was filed by Eric Savannah, alleging that his work at the hotel as an engineer affected both him and his son, Nico. The complaint came after inspections by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) found numerous violations at the hotel over asbestos safety procedures.

Exposure to asbestos is known to cause a number of ailments, including mesothelioma cancer and asbestosis, as well as other diseases. Second-hand asbestos exposure is also a known danger, as employees who work around asbestos can bring fibers home on their clothes and in their hair, which family members unknowingly inhale or consume.

Savannah alleges that medical reports indicate that asbestos exposure caused health and breathing problems for both himself and his son. He said that Harrah’s failed to protect workers, and that every worker at the casino is being unknowingly exposed to asbestos fibers.

According to a report by Fox 5 News in Las Vegas, OHSA inspections found 12 serious violations of asbestos safety procedures.

Asbestos lawsuits are one of the largest and longest-running mass torts in U.S. history, with some estimates expecting payouts for those injured by the toxic substance to one day exceed $200 billion. More than 600,000 asbestos exposure lawsuits have been filed since 1929 against more than 6,000 different defendants.

I worked at Mandalay Bay before it opened and for the next 3 years. I could see where the asbestos was affecting us. I reported it to EVERYONE; EPA, OSHA, HEALTH DEPARTMENT. NOBODY would interview with me at the casino. I tried to warn people that there was a problem at Mandalay Bay. I tried to prevent people from sickness and death. Yet it happened. Now it’s official. I should get some sort or recognition for blowing the whistle. I would definitely testify.
