Brain Damage Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Filed in Nevada

A medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed against a Nevada hospital, which allegedly hired a nurse who was already under suspicion of stealing drugs. The lawsuit alleges that the negligence of that same nurse later led to a man suffering a heart attack and brain damage. 

The brain damage lawsuit was filed late last month by the family of Richard Chamoun, 36, against Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center in Nevada. The lawsuit charges the hospital with intentional misconduct and medical malpractice.

Chamoun was admitted to the hospital on March 6 due to chest pains and underwent cardiac bypass surgery on March 10, but suffered two cardiac arrests on March 19, when he was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU), according to the lawsuit. While he was in ICU, Chamoun was placed under the care of Thomas Tackett, a registered nurse for the nightshift of March 20-21.

The lawsuit claims that Tackett and another nurse disconnected EKG leads that were monitoring Chamoun for 33 minutes while bathing him. Chamoun suffered another cardiac arrest and is now comatose and in a vegetative state as a result of the negligent treatment.

According to the lawsuit, Tackett was hired by the hospital despite having a restricted license by the Ohio Board of Nursing due to suspicions that he stole drugs while working as a nurse in that state. Tackett was also on probation with the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

An investigation by Nevada health officials found that Chamoun did not receive adequate care at Desert Springs and cited the hospital, which fired both nurses involved in the incident.

I was a big man an seen this tv speical on mini gastric bypass’s with a tv star from the seventies. This surgey was being done in Nv. by doctor Rutgledge. So all in all I drove to Henderson Nv and went through his interveiw room full of folks an decided to have it done (big Mistake) from the day i did this surgery it ruined my life, with in weeks I was having to have it reversed,. This surgey is the cause of me being crippled, brain damage, unable to work while in a rehab got behind on my house pmts an the bank sold my home I paid 750k for it they sold it to one of their own for the 212k i owed but i was so sick i did not know that my wife had left me an had not made the pmts. I was not trying to not make pmts I thought my wife was doing that but she left me while i was so sick. She told my family she could not handle me being a cripple or unable to make a living this surgey shared nothing that has happen to me to even be possible. It sucks a doctor can screw someone up and still be doing this to others without having to disclose this information if ild a seen this info ild a stayed a big man, owing my home, with a loving wife, instead im crippled, homeless, wifeless, jobless, thanks to dr Rutgledge.
