In 2009, I heard about the recall, registered online and received the envelope from them with instructions to get a replacement (i.e. cut the cord, put it in a postage-paid envelope, discard the toaster oven) 2 years later (yes, that’s right TWO YEARS later) I am still arguing with them about getting a replacement. They claim to have never received my cord. They are now asking for a receipt or for another portion of the cord. I told them we don’t keep receipts on toaster ovens for 4 years! And, as per their instructions, I discarded the toaster oven so its impossible for me to send another portion of the cord. These people are useless! Kenneth September 17, 2009 This recall may be a scam and should be investigated. I sent the necessary appliance cord and information to the Haier company on 6/4/09. Since the replacment oven did not arrive in 4 weeks, I called the comany and was told that it would be sent the following week. It never arrived, and I called 4 more times during the next three months. Each time, I was told about delays in manufacture and delays in shipping. My final call was on 9/17/09, and the customer service representative still advised me that there was a delay in manufacture, and that he could not give me any information about when I would receive the replacement oven. Dan August 12, 2009 Returned cord as directed in mid May, their website records it being received in mid June. After waiting weeks called recall phone number many times, each time being told new oven would be shipped within so many days. In late July, was advised by supervisor at call center that no replacement ovens would be sent to Hawaii but a check for purchase price would be mailed within so many days. Called again 11 Aug and was advised by same supervisor that check would take 30 to 45 working days from date of request. He stated that request date was 3 Aug and that he had requested it. If the company had made the decision not to ship replacements to Hawaii why didn’t they advise us when they received the cord and then we could have purchased a new oven. We have done so now but are very unhappy to have to wait until late Sept or Oct for the refund. If indeed, they EVER send a check. We no longer believe the company and will never purchase another item manufactured by them.
