Zyprexa Class Action Lawsuit in Canada Can Pursue Company’s Sales
In a class action lawsuit pending in Canada over Eli Lilly & Co.’s schizophrenia drug Zyprexa, the plaintiffs will be allowed to pursue recovery of the money the drug maker made off of sales of the drug after a ruling by the Court of Appeal for Ontario denied Lilly’s attempt to limit their recovery to the damages suffered by the plaintiffs.
The Zyprexa class action lawsuit seeks over $700 million against the drug maker for failing to warn about side effects of Zyprexa like severe weight gain, diabetes, hyperglycemia and pancreatitis.
Zyprexa (olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication, which has generated sales of about $4.8 billion a year worldwide.

Change Healthcare Data Breach Impacts Millions of Customers
A massive Change Healthcare data breach exposed the names, social security numbers, medical and personal information of potentially 100 million Americans, which have now been released on the dark web. Lawsuits are being pursued to obtain financial compensation.
Learn MoreIn the United States, as a result of similar claims filed by users who suffered diabetes and other injuries allegedly caused by Zyprexa, Lilly has already paid over $1.2 billion to settle about 30,000 lawsuits. They have also paid millions to settle state claims, and could face fines in excess of $1 billion following a Justice Department investigation into their marketing of the drug for unapproved uses.
Bloomberg News reports that in the Canadian Zyprexa class action lawsuit, Eli Lilly could face liability for enormous amounts of money with the plaintiffs able to go after the company’s sales.
According to Judge Sidney Lederman, who originally allowed the claims in 2007, “[t]he ramifications of exposure to this type of liability will extend beyond the parties to affect not just the pharmaceutical industry as a whole, but also the securities market.”
Lilly may still appeal the decision to the Supreme Court of Canada

After taking Zyprexa for several years ( 1995-2008 ) I started to gain weight, also developed diabetes and pancreatitis. After hearing about the lawsuit recently against Eli Lilly.. I need to know if I will be compensated so many years later..

I was on Zyprexa for 13 years and it completely destroyed my life. I was wondering if there's a class action lawsuit for me to join here in the U.S. regarding this evil poison? I was on the drug from 1999-2012.

You are better off eating Fast Food than taking Zyprexa it does the same thing it causes weight gain and diabetes. you might think of going to the gym 5 times a week. it's not enough to lose weight. I reckon you would need to brisk walk 20 hours a week and 3 weight training sessions to keep your weight stable. It sounds a lot but it's achievable by walking every day to the train station or catch busses, instead of using a car. Why don't Govt worldwide relise these meds are as bad as Cigarettes, Weed, Alcohol and prostitution. I am one of the unlucky ones, I was not born with Mental illness and my current IQ is 120 well above any Schizophenic/Asperge type character. My condition was caused because my girlfriend AleishaMSP did not want me. As well as having a bad ste father on my mothers side and my Dad and his second wife who treated me bad. Also I was prescribed Tegretol at 10 years old by Dr John Bloggs for Seizures, but I could control the seizures without tablets by having a 5 min aroara warning where I could lie on the ground for 5 mins to get rid of it. The Tegretol cause warts on my hands and feet, as well as hallucinations after been on it for a few years. Another issue was having surgery to cut out my warts, the Surgeon made me have a fit by gasing me to make me sleep for the operation. This brought on mental illness. Finally my mother pushed and pushed to put me on a disability support pension instead of encouraging me to get a job. People would say that It's good to have money and I don't have to work. Personally I would rather be mainstream society and work full time. People don't relize Mental Illness sufferers suffer. I have been an adult for 20 years and could never get a girl friend ever. So if you decide to smoke weed and become mentally ill, and you live in australia you may never ever ever get married, have children or even have a sexual relationship because to most women it is a taboo to have schizophenia.

About a year and half now, I have been diagnosis with diabetes which I firmly believe was created by the long use of Zeprexa. In addition to my psychosis conditions, I have now to battle with diabetes and high blood pressure. After a close investigation on my psychosis medication, I had stopped taking them for about three months, and saw a dramatic decrease in my weight (I lost about 30 pounds) but my psychiatric condition worsened. My family doctor encouraged me to go back on my psychosis medication, and I have put on 10 pounds back so far just in 2 months. I do have all supported documents from medical professionals. I want to know if I qualify for Zeprexa Class Action Lawsuit in Ontario.

I've been prescribed zoloft and paxil as well as zyprexa ( may 02 2007 I'm holding my bottle of them right now)and it seams all of them are recalls.I just wish that drugs should be like car company's that send you a recall notice because my life has been a living hell .I only was prescribed zyprexa because I was depressed due to a back injury and it was covered from WSIB.with this drug I found I charged with assaulting my girlfriend and having no memory of it on my birthday.I'm afraid of doctors,I been cut off WSIB because I couldn't handle dealing with them right after I was put on zyprexa .I'm just glad my girlfriend understands and now supports me. I don't take anything now and will never again after all this who could blame me.

Even more unfortunate, is how long it took to diagnose the diabetes when they knew of my history with zyprexa. The difficulty driving, the accidents, the constant fatique.

My wife was prescribed Zyprexa to alleviate anxiety/depression. Over a period of about 2 years, she gained 40 to 60 pounds, and and fell into a much more depressive state than when first prescribed. After 18 years of being together in a happy / loving relationship, she took her own life. I blame the introdution / use of this drug (zyprexa) to being the root cause of my wife' s ultimate demise. I urge anyone taking this drug to re-evaluate it's effectiveness.

I have been prescribed seroquil and started out where 100 mg would make me sleep and now 500 mg will not do the job. Stomach problems, bad gas, being a borderline diabetic does not help, thank goodness for lawfirms that do care to help us in need

Hello I had been prescribed Zyprexa by my doctor for several years. And have just heard about this. I guess this why my prescription was suddenly changed.
