Bed, Bath and Beyond Hudson Comforter Recall Issued Due to Mold Risk

More than 175,000 comforters sold exclusively by Bed Bath & Beyond have been recalled, due to a risk that the bedding sets may grow mold, posing a risk of respiratory infections or adverse health reactions. 

The Bed Bath & Beyond recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on January 18, impacting Hudson comforters by Ugg.

The action was taken after the manufacturer found mold in several of the polyester comforter sets, which could pose a serious health risk for individuals with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs, or an allergy to mold.

Mold can cause a wide variety of symptoms such as sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy eyes, throat and nose, but individuals with a mold allergy can be affected by much harsher symptoms. Those with mold allergies can experience wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness that may develop into more severe conditions if the exposure is prolonged and left untreated.

The products being recalled are the Hudson comforters by Ugg that are made of polyester material and sold in either garnet, navy, gray or oatmeal colors. The products were sold in twin, full/queen and king sizes.

The recalled comforters were manufactured in China by BHF International LTD and distributed by Liberty Procurement Co., Inc. of Union, New Jersey, which is an affiliate of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. The products were distributed for sale throughout the United States exclusively to Bed Bath & Beyond stores for in-store and online sales at www.bedbathandbeyond.com from August 2017 through October 2017 for about $70 (twin), $90 (full/queen), and $110 (king).

Approximately 175,000 units were distributed for sale throughout the United States and another 20 were sold in Canada.

Customers with recalled comforter sets should stop using them immediately and contact Bed Bath & Beyond at 800-462-3966 or visit them online at www.bedbathandbeyond.com and navigate to the “Product Recall Information” link at the bottom of the page for information on how to receive a full refund.
