Dishwasher Recall Impacts Bosch, Gaggenau, Jenn-Air and Thermador Brands

More than 400,000 Bosch, Gaggenaue, Jenn-Air and Thermador dishwashers have been recalled, due to a risk that the power cords may overheat and catch on fire.

The dishwasher recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on October 20, following at least five consumer complaints involving problems with the power cords, which has resulted in substantial property damage and may pose a serious injury risk for families nationwide.

The manufacturer of the recalled dish washers is BSH Home Appliances, and the devices are sold under the Bosch, Gaggenau, Jenn-Air and Thermador brand names.

Each of the dishwashers are equipped with potentially defective power cords, which have the potential to overheat without any warning signs for owners to unplug the machines. According to the CPSC, owners of the recalled dishwashers should unplug the machines immediately to prevent house fires and potential life-threatening injuries.

Included in the recall are dishwashers that were sold in stainless steel, black, white, and custom panels. Recalled units have the model and serial numbers printed inside the dishwasher on the top of the dishwasher inner door panel or on the side of the dishwasher panel. For a full list of the recalled model numbers, and serial number range’s, please visit the CPSC official recall notice.

The dishwashers were manufactured in Germany and the United States, and imported by BSH Home Appliances Corporation of Irvine, California. They were distributed for sale to appliance and specialty retailers, department stores, authorized builder distributors, and home improvement stores nationwide, as well as online, from January 2013 through May 2015, for between $850 and $2,600.

According to the CPSC, an estimated 408,000 models were distributed throughout the United States, and another 61,000 were distributed for sale in Canada.

Included in the current recall are roughly 149,000 Bosch, Gaggenau, Jenn-Air and Thermador dishwasher units that were previously recalled in October 2015 after 10 consumers reported the power cords overheating and catching on fire.

Customers should stop using the recalled dishwasher immediately and contact BSH Home Appliances at 888-965-5813 or visit any of the specific brand websites at www.bosch-hom.com/us, www.gaggenau.com/us, www.jennair.com, or www.thermador.com for information on how to receive a free in-home inspection and repair.
