Home Depot Ridgid Nailer Recall Issued Due to Trigger Malfunctions

About 12,800 nail guns sold exclusively at Home Depot have been recalled due to trigger malfunctions, which could cause the gun to involuntarily discharge fasteners, posing a laceration and injury hazard for consumers.

The RIGID Coil Roofing Nailer and RIGID Clipped Head Framing Nailer recalls were announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on December 6, because the nail guns may discharge fasteners without pulling the trigger.

The malfunction can cause serious injury to either the consumer or bystanders because the speed in which the nail is emitted can puncture skin easily. However, no incidents or injuries have been reported so far in connection to the recalled Home Depot nail guns.

  • Clipped Head Framing Nailer model R350CHE: with model numbers ER114600001 through ER1215004424

The recalled nailers were manufactured in Taiwan by De Poan Pneumatic Corporation, of Taiwan and imported by One World Technologies Inc., of Anderson S.C. to be sold exclusively at Home Depot via in-store or online between January 2012 and September 2012 for about $230.

The CPSC recommends consumer stop using these products immediately and contact One World Technologies at (800) 597-9624 for a free replacement nailer. Consumers with questions can also visit the company’s website at www.ridgid.com.
