Lawsuit Over Mielle Organics Hair Loss Rolled Into Multi-Plaintiff Class Action
The consolidated Mielle Organics Hair Oil class action lawsuit seeks to pursue damages on behalf of all individuals who purchased the product, regardless of whether they suffered hair loss.
In recent weeks, at least three women have filed Mielle Organics Hair Oil class action lawsuits, claiming that the products do not work as advertised, and ingredients in them can cause users to lose their hair.
However, all three plaintiffs refiled their class action claims as one multi-plaintiff complaint (PDF) in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on December 12, naming Mielle Organics LLC and The Procter & Gamble Company as defendants. The plaintiffs include Stephanie Williams, Krista Gillette and Georgina Gomes.
Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Scalp & Strengthening Hair Oil is marketed as a cosmetic product that is beneficial for hair growth, by strengthening hair strands and nourishing the scalp. However, the lawsuits over Mielle Organics hair loss claim that the manufacturers knew or should have known about problems with certain ingredients in the products, yet failed to adequately disclose the risk.

“No reasonable consumer would have paid any amount for cosmetic Products that contained ingredients causing hair loss and other injuries or containing a high risk of causing hair loss or other injuries,” the consolidated complaint states. “Thus, if Plaintiffs and Class Members had been informed that Defendants’ Products contained ingredients causing hair loss and other injuries or risked causing hair loss or other injuries, they would not have purchased or used the Products at all, or would have paid significantly less for the Products, making such omitted facts material to them.”
The plaintiffs specifically indicate they suffered hair loss due to the use of Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Scalp & Strengthening Hair Oil, Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Strengthening Conditioner, Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Strengthening Conditioner, and Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Strengthening Shampoo.
In addition to hair loss, they claim these products can cause blisters and sores on the scalp and are not fit to be sold on the market to unsuspecting consumers.
The consolidated Mielle Organics hair loss class action presents claims of fraud, unjust enrichment, violation of state consumer fraud acts, and seeks compensatory, statutory and punitive damages against the manufacturers.

I was very is appointed with Mielle Rosemary mint scalp and hair strengthening oil, after using the full bottle of oil, I am face with larger bald spots then I started with. As I look in the mirror today, I am constantly reminded of the terrible effect from using this product resulting in great hair lose. Now what am I to do?

I am very disappointed with the outcome of this product and I noticed hair breakage , but wasn't sure what caused my hair to brake off, so I stop using the Mueller rosemary product because I used it without using an other product. I had told over 20 people to try this product because I thought it was what we needed. I had several comaints with the people I had introduced the product to.

This also took my hair out and would give my scalp with weird feeling, I stopped using it after my hair was showing terrible signs and started to take collagen and minerals with zinc and magnesium to help it grow back.

I have used the rosemary mint shampoo, conditioner ,leave in conditioner and scalp oil. I was having so much hair come out when washing. The front of my hair is very thin now. I could not understand why I had so much hair coming out. I will definitely discontinue using this product.

Over the years, it seems the products have changed. I experienced the same l split ends and breakage and the products didn't seem to help at all. I experienced about 3-4 inches of breakage. My husband owned a beauty supply store and I could use as much product as needed. After having a great repertation, I'm disapointed my hair's health and glow has yet to return.

My hair has gotten thinner and thinner and the crown of my head is worse. I started using Mielle rosemary mint. I bought the shampoo, the rosemary mint conditioner and the leave in conditioner. Over a few months I lost chunks of hair and have a lot of bald spots.

I used the rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner, the growth oil had big knots all over my head. When I realized what was causing it I quit using and it took my hair out and 7 weeks for my scalp to heal from itchiness. My head was so sore. The knots finally went down after 2 months. I suffered from it.

I was wondering why my scalp was developing small scabs and sores. Also, despite products claiming they were moisturizing, the products made my scalp more dry. Products greatly diminished my usual hair growth. When I stopped using the products, the sores/scabs stopped.

I started using Mielle hair growth back in December of last year . At first I saw a difference where it was growing . However months later I started getting headaches and notice the growth has stopped . It was getting bald all over again . I saw this product featured on the Today Show and purchased the Rosemary Mint oil to strength my hair. My hair initially started to shed very badly which led to serious thinning. My edges in the front and back are literally gone. As a painful result , I had to have my chin length har cut in a pixie style.

This product damaged my hair and scalp. My hair loss went above and beyond normal hair shedding. The entire texture of my hair changed. It feels like a Brillo pad. It made my hair very dry and brittle. My edges are nearly gone.

I stopped using the rosemary oil and deep conditioner in approximately March 2024. I have also tried the leave in conditioning spray. I believe these products caused full strands of hair to fall out in clumps and thinning edges that still have not grown back in. I didn't have these issues until using mielle.

It's even growing again which it hasn't done in 40 years. I think these people that are complaining are just trying to bring down a black woman-owned business. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

I pu d chased the Rosemary and Mint shampoo and conditioner. Tried them both twice, then, my hair was coming out as I combed my hair with a large toothed comb. I was horrified, as my hair is natural, no chemicals at all. This never occurred before. I still have both the shampoo and conditioner.
