Waterlogic Water Cooler Recall Issued After Reports of Fires

|

Waterlogic has recalled about 48,000 chiller-based water dispensers after multiple reports were received involving smoke and fires that may have been caused by malfunctioning hot water tanks.

A Waterlogic water cooler recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on September 17, after at least 16 consumer complaints were filed involving the dispenser’s hot water tank failing. Although these reports involved machines overheating and creating smoke or fires, no injuries have been reported to date.

The recall includes chiller-based water filtration systems that provide hot and cold water, commonly used at home or in the workplace. The dispensers were sold in white, black, or stainless steel and come in 18, 40, or 48 inch high sizes.

Dispensers included in the recall have one of the following name brands printed on the front of the unit: AquaMark, Coolersmart, Culligan, Innoware, Waterlogic and Xstream Water.

Affected products can be identified by locating the serial number printed on a label on the back of the unit. For a full list of recalled name brands and corresponding serial numbers please visit http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2013/Waterlogic-Recalls-Water-Cooling-Heating-Systems/

The affected water dispensers were manufactured in China under Waterlogic Manufacturing and distributed by Waterlogic Commercial Products, LLC, of Omaha, Nebraska where they were sold at AquaPure Water Systems, Culligan’s, CWC, Farmer Brothers, Filterfresh, First Choice Services, and other various distibutors and dealers of water and coffee systems nationwide from January 2005 through December 2008 for roughly $500 to $1,500.

The CPSC recommends that consumers check their water dispensers to verify if they are in possession of an affected unit. If so, they should contact Waterlogic Commercial Products at 855-905-2002 to schedule a free repair appointment or visit them online at www.waterlogic.us and navigate to the “Maintenance and Service” link and then click the “Voluntary Recall” link for further information.
