Whitey’s Chili Recall: Small Pebbles or Stones Reported in Frozen Chili

About 676,560 pounds of frozen “Whitey’s Chili with Beans” has been recalled by Oklahoma based Windsor Quality Food Co., Ltd., as small stones or pebbles could in 5 pound bags and 20 pound cases of the frozen chili.

The Whitey’s frozen chili recall was issued after at least 16 consumers reported finding the stones or pebbles in their food. At least four people have reported suffering injuries from the hard pieces.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the products that may have the potential foreign materials were produced between November 6, 2008 and January 13, 2009.

The bags and cases were distributed throughout the United States to various food service institutions, such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools and cafeterias, as well as limited retail establishments.

The chili recall applies to the following products:

  • 5 pound bags labeled โ€œWhiteyโ€™s Chili with Beans, PREMIUM, No MSGโ€ with a product number of โ€œ48359โ€ and code dates of โ€œ4918311,โ€ โ€œ4918318,โ€ โ€œ4918322,โ€ โ€œ4918325,โ€ โ€œ4918329,โ€ โ€œ4918336,โ€ โ€œ4918339,โ€ โ€œ4918346,โ€ โ€œ4918347,โ€ โ€œ4918353,โ€ โ€œ4918357,โ€ โ€œ4919006,โ€ โ€œ4919008,โ€ or โ€œ491913โ€ located on the back. The establishment number โ€œEst. 7163โ€ is located inside the USDA mark of inspection.
  • 20 pound cases labeled โ€œWhiteyโ€™s Chili with Beans, PREMIUM, No MSGโ€ with a product number of โ€œ48359โ€ and code dates of โ€œ4918311,โ€ โ€œ4918318,โ€ โ€œ4918322,โ€ โ€œ4918325,โ€ โ€œ4918329,โ€ โ€œ4918336,โ€ โ€œ4918339,โ€ โ€œ4918346,โ€ โ€œ4918347,โ€ โ€œ4918353,โ€ โ€œ4918357,โ€ โ€œ4919006,โ€ โ€œ4919008,โ€ or โ€œ491913โ€ located on the side. It appears that the stones and pebbles in the frozen chili may have been from an ingredient source.
