Whitey’s Chili Recall: Small Pebbles or Stones Reported in Frozen Chili

About 676,560 pounds of frozen “Whitey’s Chili with Beans” has been recalled by Oklahoma based Windsor Quality Food Co., Ltd., as small stones or pebbles could in 5 pound bags and 20 pound cases of the frozen chili.
The Whitey’s frozen chili recall was issued after at least 16 consumers reported finding the stones or pebbles in their food. At least four people have reported suffering injuries from the hard pieces.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the products that may have the potential foreign materials were produced between November 6, 2008 and January 13, 2009.

The chili recall applies to the following products:
- 5 pound bags labeled “Whitey’s Chili with Beans, PREMIUM, No MSG” with a product number of “48359” and code dates of “4918311,” “4918318,” “4918322,” “4918325,” “4918329,” “4918336,” “4918339,” “4918346,” “4918347,” “4918353,” “4918357,” “4919006,” “4919008,” or “491913” located on the back. The establishment number “Est. 7163” is located inside the USDA mark of inspection.
- 20 pound cases labeled “Whitey’s Chili with Beans, PREMIUM, No MSG” with a product number of “48359” and code dates of “4918311,” “4918318,” “4918322,” “4918325,” “4918329,” “4918336,” “4918339,” “4918346,” “4918347,” “4918353,” “4918357,” “4919006,” “4919008,” or “491913” located on the side. The establishment number “Est. 7163” is inside the USDA mark of inspection.
It appears that the stones and pebbles in the frozen chili may have been from an ingredient source.
