Avon Eyelash Curler Recall Issued Following Injury Reports

About 520,000 Avon eyelash curlers are being recalled after at least 13 users reported suffering injuries when the devices broke, sending sharp objects towards their eye.  

The Ergonomic Eyelash Curler recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on May 13, following at least 24 reports of problems where the curlers broke, including more than half that involved injuries requiring user’s to seek medical attention.

The product has a metal eyelash curler connected to the tip of a pin that may break during use potentially exposing the sharp pin to the user’s eye. To date, the severity of the reported injuries has not been disclosed.

The recall includes Ergonomic Eyelash Curlers with model numbers F3093441. The products are silver and have black ergonomic finger grips with the name brand “Avon” engraved in the silver upper lash curling bar. The model number can be located on the product’s box.

Affected eyelash curlers were manufactured in China under Avon Products, Inc., of Freeport, New York where they were sold through independent Avon sales representatives and online at www.avon.com from January 2007 through April 2014 for about $5.

The CPSC announced an estimated 478,000 were sold in the United States and an additional 41,795 were sold in Canada.

The CPSC recommends that customers stop using the recalled eyelash curlers immediately and contact Avon at 877-217-5076 or visit them online at www.avon.com and navigate to the “Product Recall” link for information on how to receive a refund or a Mega Effects Mascara.
