Dream On Me High Chair Recall Issued Due to Strangulation Risk

Roughly 2,800 high chairs are being recalled due to design defects that may allow a child’s body to pass through the opening for their feet, potentially causing them to become entrapped at the neck or fall.

The Dream On Me Dinah high chair recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on July 23, after the manufacturer acknowledged that they pose a potential strangulation or injury hazard for infants.

Although no reports of injuries have been confirmed to date, the U.S. CPSC indicates that continued use of the high chairs may carry a risk that children will slide through the leg or side openings, posing a serious risk.

The recall includes an estimated 2,800 Dream On Me Dinah high chairs made with steel, powder coated tubing open-framed base with white plastic foot grips. The chairs are also equipped with fabric seats that have black with white trim or white with red trim, a white plastic tray table, and a five point adjustable safety strap.

Attached to the bottom of the chairs is a color-coordinated fabric storage bin. The chairs can be folded for storage and have the brand name “Dream On Me” printed on a label attached to the front tray.

The products were manufactured in China under Dream On Me, of South Plainfield, N.J. where they were sold exclusively online at Walmart.com and Amazon.com from November 2012 to November 2013 for about $60.

The CPSC recommends that customers with recalled high chairs stop using them immediately and contact Dream On Me at 877-201-4317 or visit them online at www.dreamonme.com and navigate to the “Recalls” tab for instructions on how to obtain a free repair kit.
