Flexible Flyer Swing Set Recall Issued Due to Breaking Seats

About 105,000 Flexible Flyer swing sets have been recalled after more than a dozen children were hurt by defective see-saw seats that may break.

The Flexible Flyer Swing Set recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on July 11, after the manufacturer, Troxel Company, received 1,232 reports of the see-saw seats breaking. The reports included at least 13 cases where young children were injured.

The CPSC has determined that the Flexible Flyer see-saw seats are prone to break away from the bolt fasteners during use, posing a fall hazard. Children injured when the seats broke appear to have suffered bumps, bruises and lacerations.

  • Fun Fantastic II, Model # 41578
  • Backyard Flyer, Model # 42003

  • Fantastic Playground, Model # 42126

The swing sets were sold at Walmart, Toys R Us, Academy and other stores as well as through online retailers, from December 2011 through May 2012 for between $130 and $280.

The CPSC warns consumers who have the affected swing sets to stop using the see saws immediately. They can contact Troxel for a free repair kit or if they have further questions by calling (888) 770-7060 or by visiting the company’s website at www.regcen.com/flexibleflyer.
