Frigidaire Gas Range Recall Issued Following Dozens of Burn Injury Reports: CPSC

Frigidaire Gas Range Recall Issued Following Dozens of Burn Injury Reports: CPSC

Federal safety officials are warning consumers to immediately stop using certain Frigidaire gas ranges due to a defect that can allow gas to build up before ignition, creating a risk of sudden flare-ups and burn injuries.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the Frigidaire gas range recall on March 19, indicating the manufacturer has received at least 62 reports of delayed ignition, including 30 burn injuries.

Gas ranges use natural gas or propane to generate an open flame for cooking, with the bake burner serving as the primary heat source inside the oven beneath a protective panel. When working as intended, a hot surface igniter lights the gas in a controlled and immediate manner.

However, when ignition is delayed, gas can accumulate inside the oven before it ignites, leading to a sudden burst of flame or small explosion that may cause burns, fires or damage to the appliance and surrounding area.

The model and serial numbers are printed on a nameplate located in the drawer beneath the oven. Affected gas ranges were sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot and other retail stores nationwide, as well as online at Frigidaire.com, from June 2025 through January 2026 for between $630 and $2,700.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled ranges and contact the manufacturer, Electrolux Group, for a free repair, which includes professional in-home installation of a new bake burner. The cooktop burners on the range can still be used safely.
