Lowe’s Porter Cable Table Saw Recall Issued Over Fire Risk July 25, 2019 Martha Garcia Add Your Comments More than a quarter million Porter Cable Table saws sold exclusively at Lowe’s home improvement stores are being recalled, following dozens of instances where they overheated and caught fire. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the Porter Cable Table Saw recall on July 24, following at least 61 reports of problems where the motors overheated or caused fires. One consumer reported smoke damage to their home; however, no injuries have been reported in connection with the table saws. The Porter Cable Table Saw is sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores under the Porter-Cable brand, featuring a 10-inch blade with model number PCX362010. The saw has a gray body with black accents with the Porter Cable logo. The model number and serial number are printed on the table saw’s nameplate, located on the back of the saw body near the bottom. However Chang Type does still make them under the Delta Name, which by the way is sold at Lowes and they do have a Table Saw for sale for $159 which is what we should get as a replacement. Also Porter Cable is owned by Black and Decker and various other brands of tools including DeWalt. Robert August 28, 2019 Fifteen months ago I purchased a $179 table saw for light wood shop hobby use at home as a retired person. Trusted Lowes and the Porter Cable names. Today, I was offered $95 to destroy the saw, and no additional money for the recycling cost. This is totally not ethical or fair. I called and asked for a replacement motor that I would install and they refused. They made a product mistake and they need to replace the saw to be fair. If my saw goes up in smoke, I am prepared to sue for damages to my work shed and contents before I accept this insufficient offer. I do agree that $150 would be a more fair compromise. Jonanthony August 28, 2019 After making that comment I went to the Lowes website and saw that they do not have any Porter Cable table saws for sale. I went to the Porter Cable website and they discontinued all of their table saws they had on their site, so it appears they no longer make or sell any table saws. Dave M August 27, 2019 I too would be willing to take a $150.00 credit toward a Porter Cable saw at Lowe’s. Jonanthony August 27, 2019 A legitimate recall replaces the defective parts. So in this case we should get a new saw in exchange of the defective one. I would even take a 150 credit towards the purchase of a new Porter Cable table saw. However to demand proof that the current saw is not usable in exchange of half the purchase price is not acceptable as it can not be replaced for $75. Bud August 15, 2019 When the phone number did not work I called the Consumer Products Safety Commission. They told me the phone number on the recall notice was wrong. The correct number is 877-206-7151.there is also an issue with the web site URL www.recalltr.com/PCSaw. If you don’t type the www. you are taken to a parked GoDaddy domain. This is basically a ploy to make you believe the web site no longer exists. It is all obviously designed to promote frustration and reduce the number of consumers responding. But the real frustration comes when you successfully navigate all of the bull efforts and eventually see that all they are offering is a $75 refund on a $200 saw and you have to document via photos that you destroyed the functionality of the saw. Its all pretty arrogant and inequitable. Al August 13, 2019 hello thanks for the headsup about the saw im glad this was caught soon enough i wood like to replace my saw as soon as possible thank you Brandon August 12, 2019 I agree with Jeanie. I want my full refund! Angel August 10, 2019 Yes if this is the case of a fire yes I would like to replace my table saw as soon as possible thank you for the informhation and also this is not a listed number so please try to give us the correct number to call for the refund thank you once again Jeanie August 6, 2019 The instructions ask me to destroy thepower cord, send proof, and they will send me a check for $75…no timeline listed. That is way less than what I paid for this saw! And their customer service number isn’t working! This is ridiculous and unacceptable! Angel August 6, 2019 Yes if this is the case of a fire yes I would like to replace my table saw as soon as possible thank you for the informhation and also this is not a listed number so please try to give us the correct number to call for the refund thank you once again Angel August 6, 2019 Yes if this is the case of a fire yes I would like to replace my table saw as soon as possible thank you for the information David August 3, 2019 The phone number is not a working number, I tried calling on Friday a few times.
