Nestle Toll House “Break and Bake” Bar Recall Issued Over Reports of Wood Fragments in Cookie Dough

Two batches of Nestlé Toll House “Break and Bake” chocolate chip cookie bars are being recalled, due to a risk they may be contaminated with foreign material, following several reports of consumers finding wood fragments in the dough.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the Nestlé Toll House “Break and Bake” bar recall on August 11, warning consumers not to use the cookie dough.

Nestlé indicates it is working closely with federal health officials on the recall, and believes the contamination was an isolated incident. The company notes that it is taking actions to address the issue, and indicates that it is not aware of any reported illnesses or injuries linked to the recalled break and bake bars.

The recall impacts two batches of Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough “Break and Bake” bars produced on either April 24, or April 25, 2023. They were sold in 16.5 oz. packages and distributed to retailers throughout the U.S. Consumers can identify the products with batch numbers 311457531K or 311557534K, and corresponding best by dates of 8/22/23 or 10/23/23.
