Cybex Treadmill Recall: Reports of Suddenly Increasing Speed

Approximately 19,000 Cybex treadmills have been recalled after owners reported having their treadmill malfunction and suddenly increase in speed. This could pose a fall hazard for users.

The U.S. Consumer product Safety Commission and Cybex International, Inc. announced the recall yesterday, urging owners of certain Cybex treadmills sold between January 2001 and September 2008 to stop using the recalled products.

The Cybex treadmill recall applies to the 445T, 455T, 530T, 515T and 520T models, which were sold for between $5,500 and $7,000 throughout the United States.

Lifefitness now owns Cybex. I can not get this machine fixed. I have been patient but I feel that they are stalling thinking I will go away. i am trying to find out what law firm handled this matter. Does anyone know. I will have to get my own if not. I know that the recall has to be honored. They are telling me they changed the part and they do not know why the machine is speeding up so fast. I was advised to stay off the machine. I feel at this point if they can't figure it out , than replace the machine . I don't expect their best machine, just one that works and is safe. You would think they would just stop avoiding and wasting time on this.
