I used JFM on 02/18/2022 it’s five days later and I’m miserable! Upper and bottom lips swollen with blisters.. I have my skin on my jaw bow area bleeding from scratching.. with plenty pics.. I’ve been using JFM since 2016 and never experienced this! I also used like I saw in some comments JFM Real Black! I take a fine comb and brush my bread and comb out all the dried scabs where it’s blistered and dried up.. Hope there’s someone out there can do something cause I don’t deserve what I’m going through just to get rid of some gray hair!

I bought and used Just For Men Mustache & Beard Brush-In Color Gel, Real Black M-55 on February 19th 2022 at CVS, and my face as completely broken out in cystic pussing blisters. This is horrible, and has never happened before using this product for 5+ years once or twice a year. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. DON’T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY HAVE DONE TO THE FORMULA. LOOK AT ALL THE OTHER VICTIMS! DO NOT USE JUST FOR MEN GEL!!!!!!!

NOTE: I DID FIND A WAY TO GET SOME RELIEF – Read On….Ok, so I had used JFM in the past with no issues but hadn’t used it in a few years. Well this time it went horribly wrong. I didn’t notice any adverse reactions or burning at first , had some mild discomfort and itching a few hours later. The next morning my symptoms were worsening, burning itching etc. I started washing my face a few times a day with Dial antibacterial soap and it progressively got worse. On the 3rd day I had weeping sores that wouldn’t quit draining and felt like they were draining acid. This too continued to get worse. Yesterday was day 6 and almost unbearable. I found this website last night and couldnt believe the amount of people with the same issues. It had seemed like my weeping sores were getting larger and more inflamed. I went through my medicine cabinet looking for some Aloe Vera (recommended here) but could’nt find any. The only thing I did find was Caladryl Clear lotion but it was out of date so I was going to wait until morning to buy a new bottle. The burning / itching got so bad that at 5am I decided to give the outdated Caladryl lotion a try. I washed my face and patted dry and liberally applied the lotion in the really bad areas, it burned even worse for a short time then started to feel a little better. The weeping also slowed down a lot and after a couple of hours stopped completely. I went about hours and rewashed, dryed and reapplied with the same outcome. It IS NOT an instant cure but it really helps a lot. I have only applied 3 times today and it looks and feels better. I hope this info can help someone out there that dosent know what to do for relief, it is helping me so I figured I cme back here and post it in the comments. I will NEVER use JFM again, this has been a week from hell. Please let me know if there is going to be a class action suit, Ill get onboard.

I’ve used this product on my mustache approximately 15 years ago and no issues for first year, one day I noticed severe itching, and pussing after applying this product to my mustache. The itching and redness was horrible and I can’t even sleep or go outside from the itching and scabs it’s left. This is horrible . I did call the company to find out if anyone reported this problem, however I didn’t get any help. I end up going to dermatologist for several years, spent over $12,000/ for light treatment and still I have some spots on my mustache area, very visible. The worst experience of my life, I never used any dye after this horrible experience.

Used JFM for years but never a problem. Bought the beard and moustache product just to touch up the grey patches on either side of my moustache. After only a few minutes felt uncomfortable my skin below my mouth started itching stinging and started to swell. I washed it off immediately but the damage was done. My skin has been weeping for days leaking sores etc. It’s so painful it’s keeping me awake at night, can’t lay on my sides and let it touch the pillow. Never will I use any Just for Men Products. It’s left me with red swollen scars to my face.

I am using this product for last 6 months without issue Recently, I got very bad reactions burning, blistered, swelling and bumps. The pain and burning sensation is all over my face. My lips has small blisters and is red, swelling and tender and the oozing never stops. I have used two different boxes same reactions. May have bad batch.

I used just for men on 01/28/2022. I followed the instructions on the box. About 6 hours later my face felt wet. I looked in the mirror and it was soaked. I washed my face and kept a cool wash cloth on it all day. I woke up to yellow crust all through my beard. The rest of my face was swelling, red and blistered. The pain and burning sensation is all over my face. My lips has small blisters and is red, swelling and tender and the oozing never stops.

I’ve used this product many times and no issues, just recently I’ve used this and my face is swollen, itching, and pussing. I thought I was the only one till I seen this thread. The itching and redness is horrible and I can’t even sleep or go outside from the itching and scabs it’s left. This is horrible . I’m guessing it’s a bad batch since it’s never happened before.

I started using Just for Men about 7 years ago . It worked great taking years off my true age I started experiencing much more than usual hair lose as well as burning sensation on my scalp Now I have a bald spot on the right side of my head about the size of a fist only in that area no place else I decided to look into what might be the cause and found that many people using this product were experiencing the same issue I’ve stopped using the product with know further hair lose

Just in the above comments swelling extreme inching weeping leaking sores etc I’ve used the product through out the years Until recent never again in life will use any of the Just for Men Products

I have been using this to tint my eyebrows and had no issue until today. I left it on for the same amount of time I normally do and made sure I washed it off as the instructions said to. The skin around and under my brows is red and inflamed. It looks like there’s pimples in the shape of my eyebrows. It burns and I can’t even touch it. I’m applying cool compress but nothing is helping. This seems very severe but I don’t know who to contact. My eyebrows are important as in a pandemic that’s a very prominent feature. I hope this goes away fast but I also hope Noone else has to experience this. They should take this off the shelves ASAP.

SO glad I am not the only one! I have been using this product for years with no issue-suddenly on my last application swelling, my throat felt like it was going to close up, it felt like my face was ONFIRE. I missed several days of work due to this. It hurts to move my jaw and has been like this for a week. I take Benadryl and some hydrocortisone creams to keep the pain at bay….but i DEF will not be using this again. I still have my beard but i fear i will not ever be able to shave it off again because of potential scarring. its CRAZY to see how many people this has effected, i thought it was just me!

I don’t think this chemical burn reaction is associated only with JFM, my boyfriends barber used a similar type of beard dye. In Sept 2021 he was a roofer and with the heat he would sweat and yellow crystals and oozing was non stop for weeks, itch and red/yellow bumpy thick areas you could see under the hair folicles I sent him to ER they treated him for contact dermatitis and started him on doxycycline but he stopped taking the antibiotic. It sort of helped as time goes on with the burn it may develop into some type of infection. That episode lasted almost 2 months and he got a swollen lymph node on the right ear. Last week Dec 30 2021, he got his beard dyed and the same thing happened you guys are experiencing. It’s red, raw, oozing clear fluid, itchy and painful. I figured he may have an infection but it is a chemical burn we figured out after all your posts. Thank you for sharing your stories. I hope everyone feels better.

I used this product for years with no problems. About 10 years ago I was coloring my beard as normal. I didn’t read the warning about a skin test 48 hours in advance because I had been using it for so long with no bad reaction. This time was a nightmare but I didn’t know it was the dye causing my face to blister, itch and ooze out what felt like acid. I had a reunion to go to and used it again about a month after because I honestly had no idea that it was the cause. Meanwhile my face was so bad that I had to go to my doctor several times and he could not figure it out. He even tested me for herpes when that came back negative he was perplexed as much as I was. He gave me creams and ointments which didn’t help one bit. It was so painful I could not sleep. I have a job that requires me to do public speaking but I could not go out in public let alone get in front of an audience. I looked like a monster. After two weeks of not going to work I got a notice that if I did not return to work soon I would be considered as someone who had resigned. The thought of losing my job and my income left me in such a depressed state I was diagnosed with clinical depression. I was also in so much pain that I wanted to kill myself. It was absolutely the worst time of my life. Since my doctor had no answers for me I decided to start googling my symptoms. Up to this point I still had not even thought it could have been the Just For Men hair dye. I thought I had some horrible disease. I was shocked to discover many other users of this product with my symptoms. But also relived to figure out what was causing it. I stopped using the product immediately and my face slowly started to get better. Meanwhile I had to suffer great embarrassment having to return to work with this horrible condition. I recently came across a photo of my face that was taken during this ordeal. It’s absolutely shocking to see how disfigured I was. I have permanent scarring because of this that will never go away. I am now so self-concise of my scars I hate having to get up and speak in front of a crowd but I have to do it as it is a requirement of my job. How this product has been allowed to stay on store shelves is beyond me. To know all these years later it’s still causing so much harm is disgusting.

Put jfm on my beard on 12/24. I followed the instructions and about 2 hours later i had what looks like severe. Chemical burns all over my face. I shaved so i could apply cream to sooth itching. My face is now swollen, blustered and oozing.

I have used the Just For Men beard dye on 12/11/21 and immediately noticed there was burning and itching on my lower face. I rushed to wash it off with soap and water. It did not help. I have experienced burning,swelling,clear liquid substance oozing from my face. It hurts very badly. The pain is horrible.

My poor husband had used Just for men for a couple of years. When he ran out I bought a multipack off of ebay or Amazon for him. He used it once and started itching, burning etc..so we got rid of the multipack thinking maybe they were old or a knock off. We went to the store bought a new one and it was even worse.. He had a horrible reaction of burning, stinging, weeping sores, skin discoloration and itching that is driving him crazy. I have been with him for 32 yrs and he is a really tough guy and this has him unlike I have ever seen him. I have watched him sew himself up, I have seen him after tearing a leg muscle, terrible toothache and this is even worse….it never stops, there is nothing he can do to get relief. He has been in absolute misery for 10 days now. His lips are cracking, his face and neck are in awful condition. He can’t sleep, he has to be super careful what he eats. He owns a landscape company so he is out in the heat with his employees and when he sweats it is even worse. This ruined our vacation and it is ruining our Christmas season, it is a constant focus. He says he feels like he is in hell. It kills me seeing him hurting like this around the clock. I am so angry and want to know what is going on with this product. UPDATE: So after finding this sight and reading the comments, I Googled JFM reactions. The article is at Consumer Notice dot Org. In a nutshell, it states it’s probably the PPD in the dye causing it and “Your chance of a reaction to PPD increases if you have ever had a black henna tattoo. The temporary tattoos often contain high levels of PPD and may sensitize your body to the chemical. That means your body may produce an allergic or immune response the next time you come in contact with PPD.” Well, oddly enough, this summer we took the granddaughter to Myrtle Beach and she got a SpongeBob henna tattoo and for fun I got a sparrow on my hand. And now I’m allergic to JFM. Great.

Finally an answer!! After Googling and Googling as to why my lips were burning and swelling, I’ve found the answer. I grow a beard in the winter and shave it off in the spring. I thought the beard itself was causing this. Now I know it’s the Just For Men beard dye. My beard already doesn’t get super thick and has more grey in it each year, so I use JFM medium-to-dark blonde to give it a thicker appearance. This winter, my lips are wrecked. I’ve searched and searched – is it the beard oil, is it the beard shampoo, is it some form of dermatitis? Now it’s obvious and makes sense. Oddly enough, this is the first year this has happened. Thank the Lord I don’t have it as bad as some of these others guys mention. Mostly slight swelling and burning, like a severe case of chapped lips. I’m trashing the dye as soon as I get home. Thanks dudes.

I’ve used Just For Men Beard & Mustache many times in the past with no issues until my last purchase of M-50 Darkest Brown on 11/29/2021. Use it the next evening and could not sleep from the intense itching & burning. Tried to soothe with cool damp washcloth. Next morning and all day at work constant itching/burning redness, swelling breaking out dried crusty bumpy scabs and clear fluid oozing out from scab. To protect others I will not recommend as before and I’ll never purchase again.

Used the dark brown beard and mustache dye for a few months without a problem . I reapplied the product and the next day it started to get itchy , unfortunately I had a concert to go too . I wanted to pull my skin off at the concert . Finally getting home I was able to shave . My skin was red , burnt, welted and clear liquid was coming from my pores . I took a video of me shaving off my beard in pain . I just regrew my beard back and now it’s thinned out . Take this product off the shelves.

I used just for men a few years ago for mustache with no problems….now the new stuff burns my upper lip and cause skin to peal , and continue to bur for a few days.

I used Just for Men beard and moustache dye. I broke out in a rash with severe itching, swelling, puss and bloody sores. I bought an Alo Verra plant and used the inside of the leaves a few times a day for 4 days. The rash is gone and I’m back to normal. If you are suffering the same then try using the actual plant and not an Alo vera cream. Hope this helps someone.

I only started using JFM beard dye this year and only ever bought two packs. The first one was great back on July. Did exactly what it was meant to, no problem, and looked good. The second pack I brought in October has been HORRIFIC. I blamed myself for the first bad reduction because I thought I may have rubbed it in too much and not thoroughly washed it off. It eventually cooled down after several weeks and so I bravely tried again, being far more careful and very thorough with washing it out after. Same again, possibly worse. Stinging, itching, flaking, weaping. The ooze keeps crystallising in my beads causing horrible sharp lumps. I have been washing with a very gentle face cleanser which is OK for a while then it weaps again. I am scared to shave off my beard in fear of making it worse and looking horrendous when I reveal the damage underneath. I can’t help imagining that this is how victims of acid attacks feel. It’s a horrible chemical type burn that could even be likened to the feeling of sunburn. There is no respite from it. If it’s not stinging it’s weaping all over my clothes and when it dries up its flakey and painful to move my mouth. I’m not PLEASED to hear that others are suffering the same but I am kind of relieved to know others can empathise. This product should be removed from the market at least until they can make some drastic changes to avoid these reactions. Given that more people are saying they’ve used it before and been fine until recent times, it would clearly suggest that something harmful has been added to the product. I’m not one for making claims all the time but I am going to take this as far as possible in search of compensation

I am pleased to know that I am not the only one. I used maybe 4 boxes of the dark brown and the last box I used made the area around my lips breakout so bad I was contemplating going to the ER. I shaved everything off and it only made it worse. The effects lasted for several weeks. I will never use this product again. Why would a company use an ingredient that is know you create such severe allergic reactions? Baffling!

I’m so glad to have found this. I’ve been going crazy the past few days after using Just for Men, Dark brown. My lips are destroyed, super red, swollen, burning, chapped, blistered, bleeding. I’m in so much pain trying to deal with this.

I’m stunned to see how many people this is effecting at this specific time. Like most of the descriptions, I’ve used JFM light medium brown for a few years off and on. In the last three applications I’ve progressively got severe skin reactions. These have included severe itching to the point your ready to tear the skin from your face. Redness, swelling, sores and pain have all been terrible. I’d hoped it would let up but so far four days post application it’s got worse. With as many cases I’m seeing here ,there’s got to be a problem.

I thought it was my face mask, the lotion i used but it’s the new formula of Blonde just for men beard dye.. I have used this product for maybe 10years never had a problem till a couple months ago, the itching buring beard falling out and discomfort is to much to bare.. Shame on this company..

I’ve used JFM light to medium brown for beards for just over two years. I’ve gone through about six boxes. I had no problem with the product until the latest box I’ve used. The first application from this box my face and neck were very itchy the following day but I thought maybe my skin was just dry as the weather was changing and it just needed moisturizing. That lasted a couple of days. Two weeks later (yesterday) I used a second application and woke in the middle of the night with my neck itching severely and my lips feeling like I had a “fat lip” and chapped and tingling. When I got up for work they were red and small blisters were all around the perimeter of my lips and my face and neck are red and rash like.

The allergic reaction is terrible very painful and embarrassing.

I recently used JFM touch of Grey ( mustache and beard) and have had a severe burn reaction from it. I have pictures from it today (10/28/2021). I have shaved my mustache of 38 years thinking this stuff is time released to see if this will remedy the effects.

This product almost killed me!!! My beard fell out, face swelled and oozed puss for days. Had to have a rag tucked in my shirt like a bib to catch all the puss oozing down my face and neck.. Burned my face very bad!!! The photos of my face are almost sickening.

After using this product for about 10 years with no problems, the last 2 times I have used it, it burned up my beard, mustache and sides on my scalp. I experienced, swelling, burns, lots of oozing, itching ,blisters , discoloration of my face, discomfort and pain. Sleep distributed, I never had any problem with the original packaging a red Just for men box, after the new packaging it became dangerous to my face.

I can’t believe how many comments there have been about the problems using JFM for beards. Like so many others here, I used this product for many years without a problem, but for some time now, can’t remember exactly how long, my skin has been turning red and sore, sometimes weeping. I also believe the formula for this product has at some point been changed, which is causing these reactions to happen. Would be nice if they would admit this and go back to the old formula.

This product is very dangerous. I used the jet black for my beard and mustache and have severe swelling and weeping. It itches very badly and burns.

Been using Jfm 45 over a year now for my beard. Approx about 23 sept 21 used Jfm 45. The next day had severe itching and the next thing I know is hair on beard started to fall out and scaling which resulted in a 1 in oblong blister like on cheek and chin, leaking this clear liquid and very red hard and sore. Had to take 4 days from work. Went to hospital thought it may have been a large ring worm, Dr. assured me that it wasn’t that, prescribed me an ointment and I have to shave my beard. Never had this before. SAD.

I’ve used JFM for mustache fors years,,,but now my upper lip gets chemical burn and will last for a week or more….did they change their formula,,,or what ???

Extremely frustrated after using this product. I now have three burns on my face after applying this coloring agent. To continue marketing this product knowing the harm it causes is both unethical and negligent.

Wow I have suffered so much for the last 6 days couldn’t go to work haven’t been able to sleep,I can’t believe how much this thing is hurting my face,have bumps under my sideburns and on my chin and under my chin,oozing clear liquid,it burns so bad,my face might b messed up for life because of this product,this is not write who can we speak to to get some help,I might not even b able to work after this.my face is gonna b looking crazy.this is not right we’ve supported this company by buying there product and they put a product out there that’s hurting people and messing up there lives and no one is doing anything about,I’m on so much pain right now it makes me wanna scratch my face off,please some one help us out

This is my second time using this product and both times my face swole with unbearable itching and oozing. As I type this Im sitting here with a towel to dab my face because the oozing is to a point were its dripping from my beard. I definitely will not be using this product again!

Used the product before with no effects , now used medium brown and my face in 2 hours is disfigured, my cheeks are folding like very loose skin , and I feel like my face is on fire, !!!

So it’s not just me. I’ve used the beard product for about a decade with little or no problem. In the last few months it’s come to the point of unbearable. Burning, itching, red swelling, and weeping blisters. It’s inconceivable that there is not some change in the product, intentional or otherwise.

Used JFM real black to dye my beard. Within a day it was itching and burning around my lips both too and bottom and itching everywhere else on my beard. 5 days later I still have oozing around my lips and burning that makes it difficult to sleep. I have used this in the past and never had any problems. If they changed the formula they failed and the side affects from the dye are too much to deal with.

Hi, I’m in Trindad (in the Caribbean). I sometimes go clean shaven, and I sometimes grow a goatie. So after a few months of going clean shaven, I recently grew back my goatie, and yesterday (3/9/2021) I decided to use Just For Men – Real Black (M-55) to hide the gray specks. And although I’ve used the product before without any problems whatsoever, this time the results were disastrous. I’m still in agony as I’m typing … dealing with swelling of my chin, a burning sensation, oozing, itching and redness. I DID NOT SLEEP LAST NIGHT! So far I’ve been able to bring the itching and burning sensation under control a bit, but my chin — underneath and at the sides — is still swollen. I look ridiculous! After searching online and coming across all the similar experiences. I’m stunned!! This is madness! Why is this product still being sold!! Someone please help!
