Prolia Lawsuit

Increasing evidence suggests that side effects of the osteoporosis drug Prolia may increase the risk of hip fractures, femur fractures and other bone fractures, which typically occur following minimal or low trauma events.

PROLIA LAWSUIT STATUS: As a result of the drug maker’s failure adequately warn about this risk, the potential for Prolia fracture lawsuits are being evaluated by product liability lawyers.

>>SUBMIT INFO ABOUT A PROLIA BONE FRACTURE<<

MANUFACTURER: Amgen

OVERVIEW: Prolia (denosumab) was first introduced in 2010, as a treatment for osteoporosis. It was also the first drug every approved by the FDA specifically to treat postmenopausal osteoporosis. However, early on it was linked to an increased risk of bone fractures.

According to the consumer group Public Citizen, there were concerns over Prolia side effects dating back to at least 2009; a year before it was even approved to be sold.

In 2012, Health Canada and Amgen released a Prolia bone fracture warning letter, which was designed to alert Canadian users to an increased risk of atypical femur fractures that may occur with little or no trauma to the thigh bone; the thickest, largest, and purportedly strongest, bone in the human body.

Similar warnings were placed on Prolia sold in Europe. However, Amgen has decided U.S. consumers of Prolia do not warrant the same consideration or label warnings, despite the fact it is the same drug being sold in the U.S. as is being sold in Canada and Europe…just without those same warnings about the risks of bone fractures.

In 2013, the consumer watchdog Public Citizen added Prolia to its list of pills consumers should avoid, placing the drug on its “Do Not Use” list. Public Citizen noted that not only did Prolia triple the risk of hip fractures, femur fractures and other bone problems, but there were also concerns over infections and dermatologic adverse events.

In April 2019, Public Citizen petitioned the FDA to add a black box warning to Prolia over the risk of bone fractures. It is the most stringent label warning the agency can require a drug to carry.

FIND OUT IF YOU MAY QUALIFY FOR A PROLIA LAWSUIT: As a result of the drug manufacturers’ failure to adequately warn about the risk of fracture problems, Prolia lawyers are evaluating whether users may be entitled to compensation through a product liability lawsuit.

To request a free consultation and claim evaluation to determine whether you, a friend or family member may be entitled to financial compensation through a Prolia lawsuit, submit information about a potential claim for review by a lawyer.

Thank you all, for sharing your stories! I am so sorry for the horrific suffering you’ve all endured as a result of undergoing Prolia injections. I was prescribed Prolia injections to start next week. I spent considerable time today researching this drug and am so grateful to have found this site. After reading every review, I cancelled my appointment and pharmacy prescription fill. My prayers are that God will heal each and every one you. God Bless you all!

Had 1 shot of Prolia in 2017,this 1 shot destroyed my health, body, quality of life, worst drug ever. So many side effects, nerves run through body constantly, lasted for at least 8 months, jaw problems, ear problems, skin itch ,began to loose my sense of balance, then took away my ability to walk. Right breast started to increase in size (now twice the size left breast)) right arm, right hand increased , took away my ability to write. This drug has destroyed my life, have to use a cane and hold onto someone to walk, unable to do small tasks around the house, unable to stand more than 5-8 minutes back hurts so bad. This drug NEVER leaves your body, Might as well be DEAD. I cannot believe this drug Is on the open market, it should never be given to another person. I had good health untilI took this 1 shot Dr that gave it to me was no help at all, when I went back her comment was Breast not that much bigger. When I called to see her again, she had CLOSED her practice in late 2018 without notice to patients

I’ve been taking prolia injection for osteoporosis for 5 years Have had to have hip replacement neck surgery knee surgery left ankle replacement thought it was just due to getting old. At this time im seeing back surgeon for degerative disk disease now have curvature of spine which i wasn’t born with and had not shown up until the last two years i think they just want to make money they should be money and dont want to tell about side affects attribute all this to prolia we should get compinsated for our pIn and suffering. Prolia company needs to be stpped so no one else has to suffer these awful side affects.

Fanny
i had mu first and only Prolia shot in September of 2021.. I have had constant pain in my lower back and shoulders.. Left side is worse. legs and foot on left side and numb and arm and hands are numb, I had a MRI and it showed narrowing of nerves around spine and bulging disc, all of which I did not have before shot. also I am having pinched nerves in hip, legs and upper back,. they should take this off market, also it gave me rapid heart. its been a long six months and hope this gets out of my system and I can get some relief and my problems will improve. please don’t take it.

I cannot believe that not only did Amgen have the doctors aware of the dangers of prolia. While I was on prolia I had pain in my legs and was not advised that I had to take calcium and vitamin d while on this drug. After my doctor wanted to give me a break from taking it for 5 years, after 8 months I wound up in the hospital four times with three fractures. Had a kyphoplasty for my compression fracture which was the most painful thing anyone can experience. Two years later I am still in pain after going to numerous doctors and not getting any relief. This drug is a nightmare and should be taken off the market. The drug company should be held liable for all the pain and suffering. Do not take this drug period. I know this drug has shortened my lifespan and the quality of my life will never be the same .

Catherine
I had 3 shots given 6months apart .After experiencing horrible pain and schingbon my bones I stopped getting the shots. Within 2 months I experienced 3 fractures in my spine .. This drug is very dangerous. It should be taken off the market

Jeanne
If there’s a class action lawsuit against Prolia by Amgen, please let me know.

I started receiving Prolia shots for osteoporosis back in 2014. I had left thigh pain consistently during April and May of 2020. Not realizing it was the side effect of Prolia. Did not see a doctor due to being the height of the pandemic. On May 29th, 2020 while strolling at my neighborhood park, a small child on a bike hit me from the backside. It was a low impact accident, but my left femur was fractured. An ambulance took me to the hospital for emergency surgery. The surgeon said it was an atypical fracture on my femur. Result of my Prolia injections for 6 years. Now I have an implant in my left femur and a drastic change in my lifestyle. I no longer practice yoga or hiking. Walking up the stair is a challenge. I feel depressed all the time. This drug should have never been approved by the FDA.

Karen
I had only one injection of Prolia – am a CKD Patient also. Was told only side effects would be slight pain in joints. Had horrible side effects for 8 mos. All these side effects lasted several days, then disappeared. Lost vision in one eye many times; lost balance; lost memory recall; had open blisters on top of head; blisters around one eye and upper cheek; head and hair dry like straw; skin dry- itching/red blistered face, chin, neck like sandpaper. Side effect were constant for 8 mos. Went to 2 Eye Drs. and Dermatologists for Anti-biotic creams. Would not take 2nd shot as was told side effects will probably continue.

David
Hip pain. I had 2 Prolia shots in 2020, no issues. Had another in 2021 and have had 1 this year, 2021. After the 2021 shot I started having severe hip pain. I’m fine, then start to walk. I don’t get 20 feet before I start having severe pain in my hip and have to stop. Had X-ray done and nothing is amiss. It is so bad, I won’t be getting another. There’s been no other changes in my life to account for this.

Milagros
My name is Milagros. I was one of the many patients who was prescribed Prolia for Osteoporosis. Ironically enough, I started my treatment for osteoporosis with Reclast drip in late 2013. . My yearly DEXA scan showed a slow but steady improvement over the next five years. In 2015, we moved to Florida and our new primary care physician continued to prescribe Reclast drip. Again the DEXA scans continued to show improvement at a steady pace. In late 2018 our doctor changes my treatment from Reclast to Prolia. I asked why the change and he answered that Prolia is taken from a part of the pig, and it is much safer than a synthetic medication and the DEXA scan results show much better numbers than Reclast. This could not be farther from the truth. The DEXA scans showed minimal positive results but the adverse results from Prolia could not be measured in numbers. Within 1 year I started to have dental problems. It’s noteworthy to mention that my visits to the dentist before Prolia included a cleaning and X-rays that showed no cavities along with a sparkling smile. Prolia has destroyed my jawbone. My teeth are either falling out. Rotting out or breaking off in my mouth causing some teeth to be broken down to the gum. Prolia has also caused a recess in my gums that are abnormal at best. I have found a dentist who is knowledgeable in what Prolia is doing to people. He has sent my saliva to be tested to see to what degree Prolia is a factor. He knows that Prolia is the cause because my teeth were in perfect health before starting on Prolia. He also gave me a prescription for bloodwork and took a CT scan to examine my jawbone to see if I have a chance to have dental implants. It does not look promising because of the destruction that Prolia has already caused. I am left with my Faith which for me is the most important factor. What is hopeless for man is possible with God. The dentist I have now is a small miracle since 4 dentists had no idea what Prolia was let alone know that it is causing severe problems. Some dentists are aware of this but are not proceeding with a dental program that includes Prolias effect on the teeth and jawbone and in turn not looking at the other health issues that arise from a Prolia infection that causes bacterias that have caused heart attacks. Strokes and many other health issues. Our new dentist has gone so far as to say that I should make sure I wear a mask when I am with people since any saliva transferred from me to another person will likely transfer the bacteria to them. There must be something done to hold Amgen the manufacturer of Prolia liable for the suffering of so many people, who were trying to control their osteoporosis finding that osteoporosis may be the least of their problems. I pray for healing for everyone suffering as I am and I hope and pray that Prolia and its disastrous effects on the human body will be brought to the light, more than an article on a website. There is too much suffering with very little being done to put peoples minds at ease. Stay strong because every person who is suffering needs to stand up and be counted. Thank you and Godspeed!!!!

Maria
My doctor wants to prescribed this medication to me. However, I’m reluctant to take it due to reading about law suits & other negative side effects. What are other people opinion. Thank you

Lynn
I have been on Prolia for 5 years. Two years ago I developed a rash on my lower legs after receiving a shot. It would start to clear in 5 month then after the shot again it would flare up. I just got my shot again and my whole body is covered with Eczema and sores. I showed it to my Oncologist a years ago thinking it could be from Prolia shot. I finally got an extensive blood work up and by Immunoglobulin E 600 time higher than it should be. This was from a Mayo Clinic trained Dermatologist. She stated I have a severe allergic reaction to the Prolia shot. I am in pure itchy agony. My retina detached last October, I have ringing in the ears, leg cramps, hip pain. Now how do I go off of this drug. This drug should have never gotten approved.

Sheri
I have never had dermatological issues throughout my life span. However, I was diagnosed with both an eczema and rosacea skin condition while receiving Prolia injections. Additionally, I have been victim to urinary tract infections during the Prolia treatment process without a prior history of UTI’s. My spouse (a physician) strongly recommends that I consult with my rheumatologist to address other treatment options and the safe discontinuation of Prolia injections.

Dawn
I had one Prolia injection in July 2021. My BUN level has more than DOUBLED. Coincidence? Never had an abnormal BUN before so I think not. This is not listed as a side effect but I did read online chats that mentioned kidney function issues. Hair loss was significant. Had an ear problem with dizziness and still have ringing in that ear which I did not have before. And then there is the rapid weight gain which on its own would not stop me from continuing Prolia but with the other symptoms I am done with it. Scary for sure.

Sandra
I have had Prolia injections for past 3 years. I have already lost two back teeth and now have the next two falling out now. They kinda start coming all apart from my inner back gum. I now believe I am having bone loss in my jaw after extensive research. All the teeth in my mouth are starting this deterioration process. Never wanted dentures. Hope I can have some bone grafts to enable me to have implants. Never had teeth or gum problems. This will get to be quite expensive for me, plus some personal injury for my suffering & embarrassment of having no teeth‼️ I am a very attractive 73 year old female. Please help me‼️😢. Got a dental appointment next week.

I was at my dentist on Monday and he came in and asked me if I still took Prolia. I told him I quit taking because I was coughing so hard when I was taking it that it made me gag and throw up. He said if anything was wrong with my teeth he would have to have a long conversation with me before he could do anything. This scared me so much that I look up the side effects of Prolia. I found that I have many other side effects that I didn’t even associate with Prolia. When my doctor wanted me to take it, I asked her if there were any side effects and she said not that she knew of. This was only 2 and 1/2 years ago. There were warnings out on it at that time. So upset that she had no compassion for my health.

Got first and only shot Sept. 29 2021. Next day my rt. arm was killing me from my elbow to my hand! Pain killers did not help! After 2 weeks I contacted my PCP. and than saw him. He said now more shots for me, because of bad side affects. After 2 weeks pain went to my right shoulder all the way to my hand. Has been 5 1/2. Weeks. Still have problems with my arm. Also have developed pain in rt. Foot and ankle! Contacted the company and got nothing from them. Did make my problems known. Product should have never been put on the market!!!

I had my first Prolia injection on September 1, 2021. I have had severe pain throughout my body starting 2 days after the injection. In my case my PCP doctor has attributed this to the Prolia injection and said to not get another one. It has now been about 1 1/2 months and I still have intense, agonizing pain throughout my body. I have been working with a pain clinic that has prescribed painkillers and gabapentin which has made a small difference. The bone health clinic where I received the injection says that they have never heard of anything like this. Judging from the comments here, I don’t know why that would be. I’m wondering when this will ever go away.

Yesterday my oncologist had me stop Prolia when I complained of jaw pain. I see several people talking about shortness of breath. I also had a severe problem with that, and numerous tests could not answer why. I need an x-ray soon to see if jaw necrosis has set in.

Brenda
I had 1 Prolia injection and immediately had severe headaches muscle and bone pain in all of my body. A headache so bad I THOUGH I was going to have a stroke. It lasted for a over a month. Now My 6 MO ths is up and I am having all these symptoms again. I am worried about fractures and do not know what to do. I contacted the company and they recorded all I told them. I am goi g through a living he’ll and pain meds are not helping. I had eye problems , problems breathing and PALPATATIONS! THIS medication is poison and needs to be taken off the market. I am afraid to do anything of fear of fracture. My like is never goi g to be the same . I am one of many who are struggling with these side effects. I now have PALPATATIONS and can not take beta blockers so my heart Dr DOESN’T KNOW what to do. I feel helpless!!!!!!

I have had every problem since taking Prolia shots for 10 years. Headache, ears ringing, back ache, fatigue, got pneumonia, ARDS and sepsis. Lost all my teeth due to bone and jaw problems. Now I have been diagnosed with hereditary andioedema, incurable and Life threatening. Since nobody I. My family history has ever had Anything like it, my drs are pretty sure it’s from Prolia shots and advised me to stop the every 6 month shots. I was totally uninformed of Prolia shot risks, other than it would help My osteoporosis.. All my bones and joints hurt constantly and pain meds don’t help my back and neck pain. Prolia should be banned.

Rosa
I had 1 promise shot Back in April. I have severe breathing problems since then. I have COPD and my lung doctor said I got some better. Used my oxygen as needed, mainly in afternoon and at night. Since then I had 2 x pneumonia, have to use my oxygen all day and can’t hardly do my cleaning any more. Of course my doctor said he don’t think it’s from the promise since he talked me into talking it. Went to American Family Care one time and they took care of me and also took note about promise. Had to go there again about 4 weeks later and was transported by ambulance to ER. Both times with pneumonia. Also seen the Nurse practicioner at my lung doctors office. Few more meds and it works for a few weeks then I can’t breath again. Something is really wrong and I blame it on the promise.

In 2016 I received breast cancer treatment, after that I’ve been in for Prolia shots every 6 months, so I think I had a total of 6 shots. I dreaded them since they cause such pain and achiness everywhere, but he assured me I needed them since chemo can affect the bones so he said. Here’s my problem now I have a lot of hair loss in which the chemo made me lose some of my hair but grew back in thick, itchy skin, peeling skin on feet, but the worse thing is my back now. I had to go in an ambulance to the hospital for a fracture on the spine, and 2 bulging disc. They just gave me muscle relaxer and a pain shot intravenously. Now I’m afraid to do much of anything, I don’t want the pain again, think I’ve had just about enough. I was not informed about any of these side affects.

I am from the State of Kuwait and I took only one injection of Prolia and now I am slowly dying and all of the above mentioned hit me. The lawyer is required to present the company to a fair trial and compensate the pateints from the horrific side effects and withdrowl this poisen from markets

Patricia
Took several injections and subsequently my left femur snapped in two. I was standing and simply took a step forward on that leg and the bone snapped. There was no previous injury or trauma to the leg.

Catherine
Took 3 Prolia injections with no side effects UNTIL I stop taking them. I had two compression fractures before I took it now I have a total of eight. I would like to put the Amgen Company up against a firing squad. I will be the first to show up in court when this ever makes it. If I die from my body crumbling in the meantime my three kids will be there!

I took one dose of Prolia. I had severe joint pain all over my body. My hands are not better with severe pain. In my hands. I had sharp pains in my thigh. It has been 6 months and I am not better. I had severe diverticulitis and a ruptured diverticulum and ended up in the hospital. The physician blew me off and does not admit this is related to Prolia. This medication is dangerous. I have stopped treatment.

Susan
Please contact me for class action lawsuit /Prolia. I had on injection and was diagnosed with RA shortly after.

Suzanne
Somewhere between getting the script done and getting the injection done I managed to read enough user reviews to make me chicken out. I got a real bad feeling. I am so thankful for user reviews posted by others. I pray you all heal from this horrendous drug. I’ve now discovered they are trying to bring a class action against Prolia. I will certainly be informing my doctor of my discoveries. I also found from user reviews that Vitamin D and Caltrate alone is not enough to fight osteoporosis. To absorb these products effectively bones also needs Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Magnesium and Collagen. All these items can be found in various Ostelin products which I will definitely invest in. Blessings to all who are suffering my heart goes out to you.

Candace
spinal fractures due to Prolia treatments per my medical doctor. I am in severe pain going on two months now.

The “doctors” are liars when it comes to many medications, especially prolia. Each injection is something like $1,200.00 where Medicare pays for most of it. They have millions of people on this so called “medication”, so you can see right there what is the motivating factor. My father had two injections. After the second one, he could hardly breath I had to take him into the closest “Urgent Care”. Within a few months all his top teeth melted away. Within 6 months his femur, the largest bone in the body, fractured from simple body weight. He slowly recovered from that but it had a lingering negative impact on his body. He was weaker, become dizzy, etc. Then he fractured his ribs when he leaned over at the sideof the bed in order to put his shoes on. The medical establishment is blinded by their own profession believing that “modern medicine” develops wonderful new treatments that help people when it’s all the opposite. What they don’t tell you about Prolia is that it actually, in very basic terms, stops the recalcification of the bones. Since the bones are throughout one’s life continuously demineralizing and remineralizing, guess what happens when a drug interferes and effectively stops the remineralizing part. That’s right, fractures. It also operates through the protein synthesis in the body, so you can only wonder what further damage occurs. So why is it even on the market. The FDA is effectively in bed with the pharmaceutical industry. You will have people who have worked at the FDA go to work for the pharmaceutical companies, so it’s ripe for conflicts of interest. You might read that they have a “vigorous” approval process and it’s all based on “science” and studies. Then you have to ask whose science is being used. And are studies ultimately funded by pharmaceutical companies, or universities that receive funding from the same. Something isn’t right here, but how can it be addressed. The problem is that there is so much money in the pharmaceutical industry that they take any lawsuits into account and hope to rake in more money before there are any or too many lawsuits. Plus, with a drug like Prolia that is targeted to the elderly, they often don’t understand what is happening to them, don’t make the connection or are just too tired or in cognitive decline that prevents them from speaking up and making it an issue. The whole thing is just so despicable.

I had a bone density checkup my oncologist gave me a shot did not know what it was and several days later my left side locked up and I fell off the bed two days later my whole body locked up and I fell off the bed and hit my head my husband said I was talking “out of my head” rescue and ambulance were called the Paramedic asked my husband what had the doctor given me and he said “Prolia” and the Paramedic said let’s roll NOW I passed out and came to in the hospital with IV everywhere I was in there a week and then 10 days of home health care with 10 IV I slept so much I couldn’t function my feet and hands stayed numb. My oncologist had not given me any instructions or what to expect. When I went back for my checkup several months later all I could say was “why did you try to kill me”. He said nothing I had to go to my urologist and had surgery done to remove all the gunk from my urinary system. I am now being treated by my family physician. I am taking calcium B12 and D3 and meds for my nerves I have pain and I sleep a lot. My doctor is doing extensive blood work. I am 78 years old. I am an accountant and a Deputy Coroner. I live on faith and prayer and my trusted regular doctor. My Oncologist has not been any assistance and all he did was make me an appointment in 6 months. He is in touch with records he provided on my shot but he seemed to think it would go out of my system after 6 months it hasn’t I took shot in November 2020.

I have been urged to take Prolia because Boniva did not work for me. It caused such severe pain, that I could not walk, so I stopped after my first dose, then my doctor suggested Prolia because I argued with him about the Boniva, and he didnot want to believe me. Because of his behavior and what i have read, I am uncertain about getting my first shot for my spine deterioration which is bad. I have back pain now, but it is minor without the shot, I don’t want it to increase increase my problems. Oh and by the way, he never mentioned the side effects of the Boniva either, and He has not mentioned the side effects of Prolia, only my OB has mentioned them and she told me that I could possibly have the same side effects as I had with the Boniva. So, at this point I don’t know, but I know of at least 3 people who take it and they are fine, but they could not take the Fosamax or the Boniva, it made them sick. All I know is, I don’t want to feel like that again.

I had my first injection of Prolia on 4/28/21 and developed severe dermatitis/eczema skin reaction. It seems that I have a combination of both. I had no idea this would be a side effect. It took a day to begin, and three days for the full-blown out case. It then started to calm down, but another break-out this morning. I called the dr. as instructed and she prescribed some medication. I spent all weekend doing research, and read so many negative comments; however, the fact that such severe reactions are occurring immediately after the first injection and the fear of stopping… I am amazed this drug is on the market. I am hoping for the best and I have all intentions of stopping this drug. I have also been noticing much hair loss since this injection. My main concern is what do we do after we stop taking this? I read that one should promptly receive a bisphosphonate or other alternate antiresorptive therapy to mitigate the increase risk of vertebral fractures. Has anyone done this? Is there a place we can go to with more information? It appears to be dangerous to take this drug, and extremely dangerous to get off of it. I should have stayed with my instinct – not to take this medicine. My doctor talked me into it.

Theresa
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis around February 2020 . My doctor told me I needed to start the Prolia shot every six months , just received the second shot April 20 2021 I’m experiencing a lot of numbness and tingling in my fingers and leg cramping. Also jawbone problems as well ! I’m really unsure about this injection every six months !! My back has been giving me extremely slot of pain also . I’m really Leary about these shots whether to continue taking them periodically or stop them .

Lisa
I got my first shot 3/2/2021!! I’m only 51 feel like i’m going to DIE!!!!! I’m having a hard time walking due to the extreme pain in my left foot. My left elbow & shoulder are also killing me. My neck & jaw are in constant pain!!! I have had two UTI’S in the last month. My vison is in and out and I’m about to lose my mind!! I will not be getting the second shot. I

I am 74. Had 5th prolia injection Feb 2021. Bone density in December said my bones improved. The only unusual happenings I thought might be Prolia related is that my big tonail cracked and came off twice in last two years. I am scared now after reading all the possible bad side effects.

Jean
I received 2 shots of prolia and within a year I lost all my dental implants- 6-and had necrosis of the jaw. All my upper teeth were lost and I now I wear a full denture. I feel that there should be a lawsuit to help us recover the very expensive results of taking a prolia shot . I am also very worried because I have stopped taking prolia that I will develop spinal fractures. Please let me know if there is class action suit that I can join.

Gina
I had my first prolia shot and 90 mins later I was bent in half in major stomach pain. It has totally whacked out my immune system and can’t seem to get well. I have not been able to resume work yet as the fatigue and cough exhaust me. I was told of possible systems, however I was also told “ don’t worry I have never seen this happen”… worst part for me is docs don’t believe it is from the shot! I will go to my grave knowing Prolia did this to me. Once a very active 62 year old, now getting out of bed is a chore.

Marcy
I have had two injections. Don’t want another one but scared not to and scared to have it. I can hardly use my hands now. They hurt so badly. My wrists hurt too. I just thought surgery and radiation were bad for breast cancer that was a breeze compared to how I feel now.

Chris
I often note that when reviewing drugs and peoples’ experiences with them online, only the bad/negative stories seem to be at the forefront. You never (or very rarely) see a story such as: This drug worked for me and caused me no problems. You only see all the terrible stories of how from the moment someone took the drug, their lives became an ongoing misery of pain and suffering and they were never the same again. Not that I am discounting anyone’s story here (Everyone is different and sometimes bad reactions do happen) but it just seems that on every review website (no matter the drug), there is almost never a positive review of ANY drug! I have been taking Prolia for 6 years now and have had no side effects. Perhaps I am just fortunate but I do know I was trying to fight advanced osteoporosis (for decades even before being diagnosed with it) by taking extra calcium, vitamin d, exercise and all the rest, but to no avail. I never smoked and don’t drink alcohol. My mother had advanced osteoporosis and apparently in my case it’s genetic. You can’t alter your genetics. With this in mind, I decided I needed to do something to combat osteoporosis. Sorry for all the negative things here that people list as having happened to them taking Prolia (everything from soup to nuts), but since other things did not work for me, I will stick with Prolia, at least for now. I do worry about getting my next injection with Covid raging, but it looks like Covid will continue raging for quite some time to come.

Linda
I took the shot Prolia. Went and had blood work done for my calcium. It was fine. They gave me the shot. There was something telling me not to. I notice my legs swelling from knees down. Also had a headache. A month later I had a stroke and 2 aneurysm. I am blessed my Husband was home and knew something was wrong. I have a shunt in my head, cause my blood clots wouldn’t stop bleeding. I was on the vent 15 days. I came real close to dieing. They told my Husband my calcium was very low. I basically didn’t have any. It’s strange it was fine before I took the shot. I am so blessed to be here, but I am deaf in my left ear, my shot term memory is bad. I can’t keep my balance at times. Believe me i want take another one. Please if there is anything that can be done let me know. Thank you.

I had one and I am done with Prolia. It should leave my system by March, 2020. I have experienced more pain than pre-Prolia since taking it, and now, a balding spot in the area where the hair originates (the whorl) on my head, and general thinning all over. I will not be taking a second Prolia. I was not warned of the dangers of stopping, beyond being given the patient pamphlet to read. Somehow, I acquiesced when my doctor kept insisting and I am so sorry. My husband felt I should not have it, but was not with me the day i got it because of Covid restrictions. Believe me, he will be there when I go again in March to tell my doctor “no more,” echoing my feelings. I need to know what best practice is to follow cessation of Prolia? No one seems to be more than vaguely recommending a bisphosphonate. I am at once anxious to avoid rebound fractures, and fearful of ANY OTHER chemical bone density-altering drug, for the same reason I am afraid of Prolia! I would like to hear if there is a class-action lawsuit as well. Sign me on!

I had my first shot July 6th and now my hip pain is awful. I’m used to walking over a mile every day. Now I can’t walk 10 minutes without being in pain. Walking is good for the bones but I can’t do much of it anymore. I’ve had two back fractures and feel like others, where do I go from here?

Five months after the first injection tooth#4 deteriorated and broke off at the gum line. By the third injection every tooth in my mouth (except the implant from years before) had broken off at the gum line. My teeth have always been well cared for and professionally maintained. NO ONE will acknowledge the “COINCIDENCE” of almost simultaneous whole mouth tooth deterioration and the onset of Prolia injections. I am through with Prolia. The injected arm remains painful. Now seeking other ways to restore bone health and having to expend a lot of money securing dentures.

After my first shot of Prolia, I started having bizarre problems with my jaw and couldn’t chew without biting my lip and tongue. I switched to soft foods and for the first time ever (at 50 years old), had to chew very slowly and I can no longer eat on public nor around anyone. I told my rheumatologist I did not want to do another shot but he dismissed the side effects which he never told me could happen in the first place. After the second shot, I lost my ability to walk and experienced profound issues with my jaw, teeth spontaneously coming loose, intense jaw pain, infection and gums spontaneously receding so much that the bone is exposed. My quality of life came to an abrupt end. I stopped Prolia 1.5 years ago, I am still experiencing major side effects from it and I am terrified of what’s next. I was never told of the profound side effects that could be caused by Prolia which I still experience every minute of every day.

I had my first prolia injection six months ago. I was NOT told of the risk of spinal fractures if you go off it. I had two compression fractures from falls 12 years ago, so now I am terrified that if I go off prolia I will suffer more spinal fractures. I want to go off it because I have had increased joint pain since I started on it, but now I feel trapped.
